Makes perfect sence to me. I have never seen a tach in a 67-68 6cil. The Ford sales lit. says it was only avaiable on V8,s. Scott have you ever seen on in a 67-68 Cougar 6cil? Now come to think of it I am not sure if they made 6cil Cougars.

I did a little more looking found the statement that the tach was avaible with all V-8s (0-6000) and a (0-8000) on the K code 289. The only thing I found unique with the 390-428 was that disc brakes were required at additional cost. I'll keep digging.

My dad has a 68 S code GT coupe built in SJ that in the Marti report listed the tach as a seprate option. Marty

According to the 1968 Ford sales information I have the Tachometer and reset Odometer was a stand alone option. It was not included in any other option or package. Hope this helps. Marty

As said eariler in this thread it could have been missed in the Marti report or could have been added as early as the orignial dealership. Do the warning lights work in the tach? Marty
