    Scared $%#&less

Wow Renne I am very glad you are ok. It stinks when something happens that costs you $$$ but I can think of several things that could have happend with a jerk like that could have been much worse. Tari drives 37 miles to work every day and somthing like this is my worst nightmare. I am glad you...

1968 Gas Gauge problems and a few questions

Scott that is a cool piece of Ford service history! Looks like you could test a regular system or one with the low fuel warning. Marty

1968 Gas Gauge problems and a few questions

If the gas gage is pegged full it is grounded somewhere. Disconect the wire to the fuel tank and see if it is still pegged. If it is check and see if something if toughing the back of the gage and that all the wires are in the right place. I have a lot of used gages for sale, but I am sure that...

1968 Carb swap from Holley back to correct 2100

For my money the 2100 and 4100 were the two best carbs ever made. I have had a 4100 on the fastback for 12 years with no problems.

    68 gt/cs

One little twist on that. Power brake cars got a narrower rear shoe. I can't remember the excate size right now. Marty

    . Tachometers

The 2010 MCA judges meeting was at Ray Skillman Classics. I got to see that car and over a 100 others in his collection. They are real nice people and run a first class restoration shop. I wonder if the descrepancies in the Marti report tach listing could be due to Ford tightening their belt...

1968 What do you like the most about the 1968 Mustang?

We have both 67 & 68's and I love them both. The things I like about the 68 are the safty features, extra padding in the seats and the quarter ornament design is much easier to clean than the cheese grater style of 67. The biggest thing is that Ford offered the GT-CS and the HCS. We bought this...

1968 Looking for a few guinea pigs to help test out a new Garage feature on the site

Jon, I love the garage feature! I have enjoyed looking at other members information and find it to be very useful. Rob I noticed your car has the convenience option. Does it all work? Our 67 GTA has it and it was a real interesting idem to restore, six wireing harnesses in that option alone.

1968 Original "X" code california special w/ Tach?

I think dalorzo_f is right in his statment above that non GT 390 cars would have had drum brakes standard and dics optional. In 68 Ford required all GTs to be 4V V8 cars. In light of that it makes senses that your X code has drums. Marty

1968 Original "X" code california special w/ Tach?

Thanks Dalorzo_f, The Ford lit. says that the disc brakes were required on 390 and 428's but that statement was at the end of the GT equipment section. It get confusing because Ford included power discs on all engines in 67 that ordered the GT option but made it a seprate option in 68 but...

Thanks for the post. I belive that all 68 390's got disc brakes. Now tha I have said that I suppose someone is going to say theirs does not have disc brakes. Marty

    1968 Sunday "Car Day"....

Good for you Renee, I would wish you luck but with your car and the pro cleaning crew on your side I would say you have a unfair advantage. But seriously do have fun regardless of how you place.( And I know you will) I see too many that get caught up in the competiton and it spoils the fun.

    . Tachometers

Thanks Hawkrod for your insite. It is great to learn form those that lived through it. I was talking with the National assistant head judge 67-68 for the MCA and mentioned this thread he said in 68 Ford phased out the 6K tachs and went with all 8K tachs in 68. Even though it makes no sense on a...

1968 Original "X" code california special w/ Tach?

Seems to be a pattern developing. I hope some one will find some documentation. As far as the MCA judging we do not require a Marti report so we have no way of knowing if the options are factory or not unless the car has a buck tag that lists options. 68 San Jose cars did not get buck tags. My...
