    Picture of my old GT/CS

Wow, this picture goes way back. Way back to the spring of 1977. Check out the killer snow tires. The other 2 cars are a '50 Buick and a '72 GMC.

    Men and Wrapping Christmas Presents

This was emailed to me this morning. This the time of year when we think back to the very first Christmas, when the Three Wise Men went to see the baby Jesus, and, according to the Book of Matthew, "presented unto Him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh." These are simple words, but if we...

    California Special verses the Shelby

I agree. California Specials are a perfect compromise between average run of the mill Mustangs and super expensive Shelbys.

    California Special verses the Shelby

Rhonda, I think one big reason the pedigree of our cars isn't quite so obvious is that most owners install styled steel wheels (me included). I'll bet just upgrading to 10-spokes would make that connection much stronger and selling prices would increase.

    California Special verses the Shelby

You're right Don. It becomes an even more ambiguous subject when many Shelby purists don't even consider '68 Shelbys to be Shelbys. If a '68 Shelby is just a Mustang, as the purists claim, then a GT/CS is certainly just a Mustang. On the other hand, if one considers the '68 Shelby to be a...

    California Special verses the Shelby

I agree with both of you but the original question was regarding the connection between Shelby and the GT/CS. California Special verses the Shelby -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I would really like to get some imput on the subject of the...

    California Special verses the Shelby

Rhonda, I agree with you in that a J-code or R-code GT/CS GT with a deluxe interior is basically a Shelby coupe without the front fiberglass. If more had been equipped with the GT package and one of those engines people would probably take our cars more seriously. I think it's a little tough...

    The one that got away

About two years ago a friend of mine from Eugene, who knows nothing about Fords, called for some advice. He said that some guy who owed him a lot of money wanted to trade him 2 Shelbys in exchange for the debt. I was in a funeral home in Lafayette, California at the time so I was only half...

    Styled Steel Wheels for Sale

I paid right around $400, after shipping, on eBay for a nice set of chrome styled steel wheel, with rings and caps but no tires. From what I've seen on eBay since then I paid a fair price but probably a little on the high side of fair.

    '06 Mustang "CE" Calif. Edition

Are the '68 GT/CS and HCS the only "special" Mustangs ever built with extensive body alterations?

    What's it worth?

Kel, the first thing you will learn on this site is to always listed to what Don says. Rust may be the biggest issue. If one fender is rusted then the other probably is not far behind, and if the fenders have rust spots that is s red flag to check the floors. Even with the potential rust...

    Aqua GT/CS on eBay

Listed below is a start at all the things to look for when inspecting a GT/CS. The best thing to do is get a copy of the GT/California Special Recognition Guide & Owner's Manual, by Paul Newitt. Everything I've listed below is probably in that book. *VIN must start with 8R01 and the last 5...

Nada Price Values Gt/cs & Hcs

What would be fun would be to get someone to make a "Colorado" script that fits in the same holes as the "California" and replace the HCS scoop shields with GT/CS letters. Or just stick it on a California Special. Now that would blow some minds. Maybe it was the HCS prototype. Only one was...

    Beagle Claus

This is Beagle Claus and his loyal reindogs Abby and Nani. As you can see Beagle Claus and Abby are getting too old to make their appointed rounds so a new, younger reindog was needed. Nani is a rare Hawaiian reindog, hence the lei.
