WTB California Special with 390 and automatic

"Candy Apple Red" :o. I changed the formula a lot, it's "Royal Maroon" Ford #3059-A. Don That would certainly explain why it looks darker than candy apple red. The photo was taken in bright sunlight. Beautiful car!

WTB California Special with 390 and automatic

Don, is your car painted a standard '68 candy apple red or did you change the formula a little?

WTB California Special with 390 and automatic

Jason, maybe you can talk Don into selling you his car, then all you'd need to do is replace the 4-speed with an automatic! ;D

WTB California Special with 390 and automatic

I think Jason is looking to buy such a car, not sell one.

    Deck Lid Stripes

Sorry about that. When you get the "page not found" page click on the Ford emblem. Next page click on "Mustang - restoration", then click on California Special. That should get you there.

    Newbie Help on CS Purchase

In my opinion, if you are interested in keeping the resale potential as high as possible it depends how you will use the car. If you are going for a 100 point restoration then the change in color may hurt resale, but then so will the change in color of the exterior. If you are going for an...

    Basecoat / Clearcoat

For the guide coat be sure to just mist it on. If you spray it on as you would normal paint you'll be sanding it off for a loooooong time. Another tip; be careful when sanding with water. It's easy to sand the skin off your fingers after a few hours of having your hands constantly wet. I...

1968 GT/CS for sale on Ebay

It's interesting that his reserve is $10,000 but the ad in the classifieds says $7,000. I wonder what the real price is? From the pictures and description I'd certainly say that $7,000 is too much unless it is 100% rust free, and has all the CS parts. Last I looked the high bid was less than...

    68 GT/CS Eleanor

Rhonda, I've been arguing for a registry too. I think it's critical that we keep tabs on the original GT/CSs because their value will rise sharply if and when Eleanor coupes start hitting the market. And anyone who makes true-to-life GT/CS clones and doesn't register them as such should be...

    68 GT/CS Eleanor

Hook, I agree that the "ugly duckling" shot was a little harsh but I had to get the ugly duckling into the swan metaphor in there somehow. I agree that a plain stock '70 coupe is about as bland a Mustang as there has ever been. Of coure the funky reverse scoop thing they put on the '69 coupe...

    Newbie Help on CS Purchase

Personally, if it were my money, I'd spend it on a Marti report and a mechanic. Or is the appraiser actually a mechanic? You've researched the market on the internet and pretty well know the value of the car. If Marti says it's a real GT/CS an appraiser seems redundant but a good mechanic...

    1st Trophy

That is a beautiful car Joe. The white and black gives the car a bit of a badass attitude. I think that is the only color combination that brings out that "don't mess with me" demeanor.

    68 GT/CS Eleanor

Cobraman brings up a great point. And I think the price paid for the Eleanor proves that there is a HUGE market for quasi-GT/CS clones out there. There will always be those who want a car to be numbers-matching, 100% perfectly stock but those people are few and far between and they make up a...
