That's a lot of photos Arlie. Let me know if I can help lessen the load by reviewing some.

    1968 Fasteners

As it happens, I had to go to Ace this morning, so I took my factory side scoop screws to match up. Yes, it is just an oval head sheet metal screw, but there wasn't an exact match. The shaft diameter of the factory screw is a little bigger than a #8 screw, but smaller than a #10. Same with the...

I wasn't able to find anyone selling the side scoop screws. Here's a photo of mine in case it helps:

1968 Windshield and rear glass - number of trim clips?

    22. That's why I'm confident the 22 clips are right. And it's how many came in the pack of AMK clips I bought. ;)

1968 Windshield and rear glass - number of trim clips?

I'm mostly looking for a sanity check on the number and size of trim clips for the windshield and rear glass. When I took my glass out a year ago I put the clips in 2 ziplock bags clearly labeled "windshield" and "rear glass" but it looks like I have more clips than are needed. It seems very...

    1968 Rims

Welcome to the site! There were several factory options. Do you know what your car came with originally? The stock steel wheels could have various hub caps. Base "dog dish" or "poverty" wheel covers w/ body color painted steel wheels: Standard covers: Deluxe covers: Wire wheel covers...

1968 VIN tag on dash - Does the dash pad slip under or is it cut out?

Speaking of the dash pad trim pieces, according to the "Body Assembly Manual" (purple cover) there's a small connector piece in the middle, where the two long trim pieces overlap. I don't remember ever seeing this piece. Does anyone have one of these on their cars? See the piece circled in red...

1968 VIN tag on dash - Does the dash pad slip under or is it cut out?

I did a test fit of my dash pad (I won't do final install until the windshield glass is in) and I had to notch the dash pad to get the VIN tag to sit correctly. The metal VIN tag does slip over the dash pad, but the pad couldn't push all the way forward without notching it. Left photo is...

    1968 Fun with Wiring!!

I did this also recently. I used Rust-Oleum "Bright Coat" and it's fine. But it looks like the Revell paint that Arlie used is more shiny.

1968 VIN tag on dash - Does the dash pad slip under or is it cut out?

For the VIN tag on the passenger's side dash, does the dash pad just slip under the VIN tag or was there a cut out on original dash pads where the VIN tag sits? I'm installing a new dash pad and my original was in such bad shape that it doesn't help me with this question.

Are those raised white letters on both sides? Typically they are only one one side, so you can ask the tire shop to mount them blackwalls out.

1968 Tail light issues - how much is tied to other lights?

It may be a ground issue, but when I reassembled the tail lights I cleaned all the sockets thoroughly and got all the contact springs to work again. I sanded out all the socket hole edges in the tail light housing as well as the outside of each socket where it friction fits into the housing, so...

    1968 Email Notifications

It could be some things changed when the new forum software went live, although that's been more than a year now. By default you will get emails when any thread you have been part of gets a reply. But you won't get emails about other forum activity unless you specifically ask for it. I think...

    1968 Email Notifications

To do that you'll need to "watch" each forum you want to get notification from. And the default is to give you "alerts" when you're on the forum. If you want email you'll need to check that box. I just set you up to "watch" the main "GT/CS and HCS Forum" with email notifications. So see if you...

1968 Tail light issues - how much is tied to other lights?

Both flashers are good. I swapped them for each other and both work. One is an Autolite and the other is a "Rounder". I assume the Rounder was a replacement, but it's definitely old and from before I bought the car. Kind of cool.

You mean an email notification every time a new thread is made in a certain forum? Or an email when people reply to threads you're a part of?
