1968 Power steering pump paint source? (referred to as "dark blue" or "teal")

I guess with no tag, pick your color. The color on it was wrong, the NOS one color is what you are looking for if you want to go blue.

1968 Power steering pump paint source? (referred to as "dark blue" or "teal")

My first question is how do you know your pump was blue? Did you find there was some of the original color under the tag? Ford had two suppliers of PS pumps. The Ford Thompson pumps were blue. The Woolridge pumps were SG black. The Ford Tompson pumps have a F on the middle line of the tag. The...

The lower console and deluxe seat belts are not part of the deluxe interior. The caps and metal wheel insert are tough to find.

1968 Correct "Ford Blue" engine color in a spray paint?

For rattle can jobs I use the Duplacolor Old Ford Blue. 1606 use to be the closest then they changed the formula now it is too dark. For the Concours cars I use a PPG gun mix it is accurate in color and far mor durable.

1968 Cluster wiring vendor and specs?

Have you tested or replaced the low voltage regulator on the back of the cluster that those wires attach to? Is it only the fuel gage and not the oil pressure gage? If oil pressure is ok then the regulator is ok.

    1968 side scoop removal

The tricky part is after you put on the stripe part razor blading out the part of the stripe that is under the HCS logo. It takes a steady hand, I would practice on some paper first.

    1968 Prepping for media blasting

Where there is smoke there is fire. if it were me, I would have the engine torn down, inspected and at least resealed. For me it is always that thing that you did not do that bites you. Then you have to go backwards to fix it. Remember that your car is 55 years old and there may be more...

    1968 side scoop removal

Jon, I have a pair of original HCS logos that I got from Dan Teets. They are part of the ones that Bob had made from the original Ford artwork. I think Bob and Dan would like for you to have them for your car as a thanks for all that you do for this site. Let me know where to send them. Marty

1968 Front suspension rebuild - current wisdom?

I am a Concours guy so I always want to use the original parts. Upper control arm ball joints were riveted not bolted. Getting someone to rivet them can be challenging and expensive. If the lower control arm ball joints are tight and the boots are not cracked, I would just refinish them. Same...

    1968 side scoop removal

The HCS part of the stripe was not factory applied, the dealers put them on. My red HCS, Bob Teets old car left the dealership without the scoop strips by mistake, or they were out of them. He started calling around Denver to see if he could find someone who could make them and that is when he...

For Sale 1968 California Special Meadowlark Yellow X Code 390

Yes the black out hood stripes are not common. They do look good on your car. If they were original to the car the color code W would have been followed by a 5. W5 and should have listed in the Marti report options as Two Tone Paint. Good luck on the sale.
