    1968 Prepping for media blasting

Plus it will be much easier now to replace that right front (battery tray) apron. Steve

    1968 Prepping for media blasting

Count me in for 100% of what Rob said as well. You don't want to get blast media into the engine or tranny. I've had a couple of cars blasted with aluminum oxide, but I'm thinking the next one I do will be with dry ice. A lot less cleanup! They also may be able to do the underside without a...

    1968 Engine Identification

It doesn't have the correct water passage at the front for the C/M series engines that I've seen, so I don't think it's a 400M. What is the bore diameter? If you could give the bore and main bearing diameters, it should be easier to track down. It may be a Mercury boat motor as well. Their...

    1968 Convertible Rear Interior Panels

My GT/CS had an ashtray in the rear inner panel, but it wasn't a convertible panel. I always thought the convertibles had a narrower seat back and the top of the interior panel was wider and open at the top for the top frame. Steve

    1968 Can it be saved?

It can be saved, just cost a bit. Go to a couple of boat shops to get bids. Steve

    1968 My new project

Member "Wallace" was talking about cutting the roof off his car and making a convertible. https://californiaspecial.com/forums/threads/why-not-convert-my-gt-cs-to-convertible.14292/ Maybe you guys could get together and salvage the top for your car, or contact the people he was going to use and...

    ADMIN Forum software upgrade today

Neil, looks like the new software awards "participation trophies" :D and it counts all our previous posts, so we were awarded retroactively.

    ADMIN Forum software upgrade today

Funny. I was automatically logged in to the new format the first two days, and then today wasn't and had to log back in. Login still works though. Steve

    1968 Rarest Mustangs Article

That article was poorly researched. In addition to not listing the HCS, they listed over 9,000 '72 Sprint specials, but not the 1806 '71 Boss 351's or 398 '72 R code HO's, including just 13 convertibles.

It's one of the Legendary GT continuation cars, but I think they're reaching for the moon with that price.

    1968 Advice on originality

I agree with previous posts. I would also say for just cruise nights, occasional driving around town, etc., the stock suspension and brakes will be just fine. You may have to replace some of those components because the car was sitting for so long, but you won't need the extra expense of higher...

1968 STOLEN - 1968 California Special Dalles, Oregon

The Dalles isn't a very big town. Probably everyone with an interest in cars in the area knew where it was. Not necessarily an inside job. I'll watch for it here. Steve

    1968 Speedometer gear teeth

The driven gear would depend on which rear end ratio and tire size the car had originally. Also, someone may have changed the gear in the past. IIRC, one size, 15 tooth I think, was not available for a while, might still not be available, and a different tooth count might have been used. It's...
