    1968 Registry Data

Very cool information. That was a lot of work, thank you. Does this include the HCS's? The reason I ask is I see that there are 8 R codes listed and I thought there are only 3 GT/CS R codes? Marty

    1968 GT/CS Convertible???

As we thought a coupe and not even a GTCS.

    1968 GT/CS Convertible???

A Marti report would clear that up real fast. Ford would never assigned a coupe VIN to a convertible body. It is clearly a made up car. Call it what it is and sell it as a very cool modified car. Just my opinion.

    1968 Rocker panel moldings

I have heard some bad things about the replating. It takes a really good original that has no deep pits or scratches as they must be polished out. That some times leaves the metal very thin. The bad part is you pay weather it turns out good or not.

No! That is why NOS ones bring up to $800. There are some restored ones and a NOS one on concoursmustang.com classified last week. If you do not care about authenticity Burton Antique Auto has some that are made of Stainless steel that looked pretty good a while back. Marty

I am not saying that every car got it blacked out. I would not deduct either way.

    1968 Another One is Saved

There is a amazing survival rate of these cars. There are 170 of 251 68 HCS in my registry.

Most often they are seen natural. Ford hand brushed black paint on top ( I guess so it would not stand out) but it did not stick very well and has disappeared on most cars.

    1968 Looking for a Scoop

It is important to clearly define how you will use your car, what level of restoration you want and how the first two fit in to the budget you have. I mostly build Concours trailered class cars. They are judged on cleanliness, quality of parts, workmanship and authenticity. Reproduction parts...

    1968 Considering Buying a '68 High Country

Yes it looks to be a very good car but as Rob said you would want to see the undercarriage be for buying it. I have it in the HCS registry but under the previous owner. The color change is the biggest turn off to me but if it checks out would be worth the 20K.

No the decal is not placed correctly on the scoop.

    1968 Fog lights pigtails

The correct wiring is the early with the small black grommet. You need to look at your lights and see if you have a small or large hole. There are other differences as well. Here is a picture of both styles. I am not sure of what you meant by metal pig tails.

1968 Paint Code dilemma for 68

This is a factory correct Acapulco blue. We found original unfaded paint under the fiberglass tail light panel and had the PPG rep match it.

    1968 Best Quality Repo Fiberglass

They are the same part, only with the opening cut out. A lot of GT/CS scoops are used on Shelby's. I was disappointed in the quality of the Branda fiberglass. With most replacement fiberglass plan to do a lot of work on it to make it fit.

    1968 Road Warrior 2

I often use a gear puller that I have very tight, then hit with a sharp blow with a hammer. Seems to work well for me.
