2007+ New Addition to the Stable - A Shelby

Casey, Congratulations...what a great birthday and Christmas present!!! You won't regret your purchase.....it is one of the most exciting automobiles you can own. I also had the urge to own a 2007 Shelby GT, and since I own a white 1966 GT 350, I just had to have a white Shelby GT coupe. I...

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Neil, This could be another discussion point, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be yellow, AND you are not to be too careful in it application! It will be interesting to hear what our gold card judges have to say.... Russ

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Gary, Permatex makes a product call Weatherstrip Sealant for installing weather stripping. Its yellow and holds like iron! I used it on my weather stripping around the doors and trunk, and it's GREAT! Maybe you can use this on the woodgrain dash panel. Just a thought, Russ

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Gary, The dash in this car is just the standard camera case black (I wish it had the deluxe interior as it looks so good). I purchased the interior items over three years ago, and really don't remember who made the items. Russ

    1968 Hood Lights

My one obervation regarding the factory drawings is that I could not have completed the restorations my Mustangs without them. They provide information showing me how Ford intended the car to be assembled, and since I was not working on the Ford assembly line in 1968, they give me specific...

    1968 Hood Lights

Rob, That's the clip I'm referring to...it is NOT on the drawings, and I've never found any evidence that these clips were installed by Ford. So, do we go by the drawings?? Russ

    1968 Hood Lights

Neil, Here are the Ford drawings for the items used to secure the lights and wiring harness to the hood. I'm not sure what "small clips" you refer to, but there has been some discussion among MCA judges about a clip and screw that keeps the lamp assembly from falling out of the lamp housing...

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Jeff, Yes it was on the car. I had to reproduce the stamp pad to make this mark, but this number and letter were found on the passenger side of the firewall. Also, I found inspector stamps (Letter and number) on the innner portion of the head light buckets. I'm trying to be "correct" and not...

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Even though the car was in rough shape, it had quite a few nice options, and that's one reason I wanted to restore it back to its former "glory". The car had some of its original fiberglass, which was a real plus. Interestingly enough, I stopped in at McCoy & Mills Ford three weeks ago in an...

Thanks for the compliment! Pony Carburetors has this stove tube, and they did a fantastic job on my carburetor! I plan to show this car along with my highland green GT/CS, but I will also drive it (why have a car you can't drive). I believe the valve cover decal is correct (pn: C8AE 9C 485-B)...

1968 More Progress on My Lime Gold GT/CS

Since my last post, I've made some progress on my car. I wanted to complete the car by the end of November, but I didn't make that deadline. The motor is ready to start and I had a great day today when I checked out the electrical system...everything worked! The hood is going on tomorrow and...

    Bleeding Power Steering System

When I filled my new power steering pump with F-Type ATF, the directions said to jack up the front end, and without the motor running, turn the steering wheel lock to lock five or six times. Then check the fluid level and top off. That seemed to do the trick on my car. Hope this helps, Russ

    1968 Proper Spring Color(s)

My springs had black paint in addition to the paint daubs. I've seen them both ways, natural and painted. Hope this helps, Russ

    1968 Proper Spring Color(s)

Jeff, When I cleaned the springs, I used lacquer thinner to wipe the springs down..thankfully there was no rust, and they cleaned up very well. I could clearly see where the paint daubs were located and reapplied the daubs in the same location. The location varied on each spring (one faced the...

    1968 Proper Spring Color(s)

My 302 cu in small block (J code) and my 289 cu in (C code) have the same paint markings. These cars are equipped with factory air, so that would make a difference. My paint daubs are lavender and vermillion orange. I painted these daubs exactly where they were on the spring before I cleaned...

1968 Black Console for My Lime Gold GT/CS

As some of you have seen on the forum, I'm nearing completion of my lime gold GT/CS. I am in need of a good, black console to complete the restoration. I've been checking ebay for weeks and have not been able to purchase one that is in good condition. I have some parts, but they are not in...

    . A really bad Day!

Marty, I'm so glad YOU were not hurt!!! I've found throughout the years that material things can be replaced or repaired, and while your beautiful Mustang and your garage are injured...they can be repaired. I'm so thankful you're okay! Russ

    1968 Trunk Mat

Arlie, I'm sure your mat is correct. It is called "Burtex" and it was used in 1968 Mustangs produced at the Milpitas plant. Plaid mats are available as well, but I don't think they are correct for your car. Hope this helps. Russ
