Looking for post on detailed front wheel area

Here are a couple of more photos of the front wheel area. The paint daubs on the springs are bright orange and lavender. This color combination is for a 289ci. engine with factory A/C. Also, the letter "D" is written in yellow crayon on the passenger side of the front inner fender where the...

Palm Springs Exotic Car Auctions...Nov, '05

Sara, All early 1968 GT 500 Shelby's were "S" code cars. The engines were the 428 police interceptor engines, not the 390. Around February, the Shelby's became GT 500KR models and the 428ci. Cobra Jet engines were installed. The KR Shelby's carry the "R" code in their VIN. Hope this helps, Russ

    What Dealership Sold Your Car

The initial post requested information on the availability of dealership items from McCoy & Mills Ford in Fullerton. Since my lime gold GT/CS was purchased from this dealership, I wanted to see if I could obtain a set of license plate brackets from the dealership. A friend of mine went to the...

    Correct seatbelt color?

Mike, I have two '68 Mustangs with lime gold exterior and ivy gold interiors. Both have the deluxe interior option and both have black seat belts. They also have black knobs on the window cranks. One car was made in San Jose and the other in New Jersey. These cars have never been restored and...

    2006 Calendar - Winners selected

Casey, I just built a new home for my wife and a "barn" for my cars (all Fords, of course). It's a dream barn that is 4500 sq ft. and it has enough room for the Mustangs (they need a barn, don't they???) and my new aquisition, a 1947 Ford 8N tractor (!). I'm very blessed to be able to have...

    What Dealership Sold Your Car

I haven't contacted McCoy & Mills Ford for any dealer items, but I will be going to CA soon, and I'll give them a call. My lime gold CS was built on March 7th and was sold on April 12th. It was a "retail" order, so the first owner ordered the car with the options he/she wanted and then waited...

    What Dealership Sold Your Car

My lime gold CS that I'm now restoring came from McCoy & Mills Ford also. This dealership is still in business in Fullerton, CA. My highland green CS came from Taylor-Slatin Ford in Hunnington Park, CA which is now out of business. Russ

    valve covers

Chuck, I have a pair of original Ford, big block, 429 valve covers. They are finned covers and still have the original Ford emission sticker. I believe they are for a later engine than a '68, though. If you are interested, let me know. Russ

    GT/CS for Parts on Ebay

You are right about the inner fenders. My money says that someone took this car's VIN numbers and switched the numbers onto a better '68 coupe body. It's too bad that the original body wasn't restored with the parts. Oh well, :'( Russ

    GT/CS for Parts on Ebay

A GT/CS "parts car" is on Ebay under Mustang parts cars. Starting price is $1.00!! The Ebay item number is 4573568413. Most of the CS items are missing, but it does have the front inner fenders which should have the VIN. FYI. Russ

    9 inch rear

Ok, Here goes...........My Lime Gold GT/CS came with the 302, J Code, but does not have the GT option, and it has a 3.00:1 conventional 8 inch rear end. The identification tag on this car reads "WCZ-F1", the the date code of "8B" (Feb 68). I also have another 1968 Mustang with the 302, no GT...

    9 inch rear

My 1968 GT, J Code 302, has a nine inch rear end. It also has all the factory markings (yellow paint crayon) and the rear end tag. The rear end has a 3.25:1 ratio and is non-locking. It is original to the car. Russ

    Rear leaf springs

The rear spring for the GT Equipment group option sits the car perfectly level. It also allows for better handling. Hope this helps, Russ

Mustangs at the Queen Mary Show

Not much to see right now, as it is in the paint shop. As the painter begins to make progress, I'll take some photos and post them. My wife and I are leaving for Calgary, Canada on Saturday to attend the Model T Club of America national tour with our 1911 touring. I just finished restoring...
