    They're Still Out There

I'll get it in the registry when I get the Marti Report. Thanks for the encouragement. Russ

    Concours Restoration Books/Marks

Doug and Bryce, The assembly manuals assist in making sure the right bolts, electrical connections, vacuum lines, heater hoses and all the other "little" details are correct. for any 1968 Mustang. Also, using Paul's book, shop manuals and other refernces, your car can be a concours show winner...

    They're Still Out There

I couldn't let a GT/CS sit in the salvage yard so I brought it home last night. It appears to be a GT/CS with a GT option package (but no fiberglass) and a four speed trans. I'm getting the Marti report to verify. These cars are just great! Russ

    Concours Restoration Books/Marks

It would be great to have a GT/CS - HCS class!! What I have found is that the judges really like a GT/CS - HCS in the coupe class, and usually these cars do very well. Paul, your books are the "bible", and I take both with me whenever I enter my car in MCA shows. I also take all the assembly...

    Concours Restoration Books/Marks

When building any Mustang to concours standards, I think the biggest question that must be asked is "what is going to be done with this car when it is completed?" A concours restoration implies that the Mustang will be 100% correct, as the car left the factory in 1968. Most concours cars are...

To be or not to be color

When I look for the original paint color, I always check under the rear package tray behind the rear seat. This is a place that is never repainted, and because it is usually covered by the fiberboard package tray, the paint has been protected and in excellent condition. Just a thought that...

    Those small little rubber boots.....

These "luggage protectors" are sold by National Parts Dept and are called "Fiberboard, Shelby Taillight", part #13434-50A and sell for $14.95 each. The quality is excellent. Hope this helps, Russ

    Concours Restoration Books/Marks

I emailed Bish and explained that I have the paint markings/daubs for a 289/C-4 with Select-Aire. I also discovered the proper exterior paint inspector markings in the engine compartment when working on a totally original Highland Green GT from San Jose. These inspector markings are totally...

    Concours Restoration Books/Marks

I believe the best books describing a 1968 restoration are the Ford Assembly Manuals. The MCA judging guidelines are also quite good. Once your car is completed, take it to an MCA show, have it judged in the Concours class, and ask a lot of questions. MCA board member Laurie Slawson, out of...

    Stock radio

The photo that sunlitgold sent is a good start for your radio. I believe the radio that is shown is for a '67, not a '68. The AM radio for '68 is a Philco, not Ford, and has black push buttons rather than chrome. If you have a floor console, you will have a challenge finding the correct chrome...

    They're Still Out There

While looking through a Flagstaff wrecking yard, I came across another GT/CS, hit a pole in the front, and all the CS fiberglass removed. VIN: 8R01J156378, blue paint and interior. I goes to show that these cars are still out there!

    GT/CS Vinyl Top Option

Scott, My GT/CS has a vinyl top and there is no mention of it on the Marti Report. Probably was a dealer item, but it does have the original style chrome trim that divides the vinyl top from the body. Hope this helps. Russ

    VIN # question

Winston, On San Jose Mustangs, The VIN was stamped near the edge of the inner fender on both sides of the car. The cut out on the fender is near the stamping, but be careful when you lift the fender. The factory used an oil base sealant between the inner fender and the outer fender and this...

    Are all GT/CS's true GT's?

Probably one of the quickest and easiest ways to determine if a GT/CS has the GT option is to look at the lower rear valance panel and see if the panel has the "cut out" reliefs for the dual exhaust. While dual exhaust could be installed by the dealer, this panel, along with the "quad...
