This is getting good!! I'm bringing my stock, C-code, highland green GT/CS, so I'll have trouble staying up with the Shelby and the blown CS, but it still should be a ball!!! I'm looking forward to meeting folks from this site. Anyone else interested??? Russ

Mustangs at the Queen Mary Show

I just received a flyer from the Beach Cities Mustang Club that advertises the 9th annual "Mustangs at the Queen Mary" Mustang and Ford Show. The show will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2005 and is a people's choice show, so no major judging will occur. My wife and I are planning to...

2008 California Special Member Get Together

Boy Hook, It sounds like a six week vacation!!! When do we go??? As far as the Kanab get-together, we could do it in the summer of '06, no problem. Russ

2008 California Special Member Get Together

Here is another suggestion. One of the most beautiful locations anywhere is the very small town of Kanab, Utah. The attractions and national parks around Kanab include the north rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks and Coral Pink Sands. The town is a great hub for...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

To me, the "critical" question is WHEN did Ford make the decision to produce the second, or later, style of rear quarter. From everything I have been able to determine, the Ford employee's strike was the basis for many, if not all, of the cost cutting measures that we can identify on our '68...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

This is a very interesting discussion. If Ford was sending '68 replacement stampings to San Jose with a 7-25 stamping date in 1967, the quarters would be the earlier style with the recessed side marker. Therfore, Casey's car would have one early side marker and one later side marker, but my...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

Paul, I have a question regarding the '67 rear quarter you mentioned. Everyone knows that the '67 quarter was entirely different than a '68 (with the cut-out scoops on a '67). So if the quarter is a '68 style, how could it have a 7/25/67 build date? Were they making '68 quarters before they...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

Bill, The front fender stamping is on top, just like the rear quarter. Some original replacement Ford front fenders do not have a date stamping. My GT has the original right front fender with the date stamping and the left fender was a replacement with no stamping. My lime gold CS has a...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

It is interesting to check the various body panels for the date stampings, as it helps determine if a panel was ever replaced, and if you want a "date code" correct car, this is important. If a panel has a later stamping date than the build date for the car, it has probably been replaced at...

    Rear quarter reflecto question

On my San Jose coupes, there are date stampings found in the trunk drip rail on each quarter. These stampings are located right on top and are easy to spot when the trunk lid is open. My GT/CS was built on Feb 14 and has the early reflectors, and the stampings are 1 17 3W and 1 9 3W...

Rear Spoiler End Cap Needed! (Passenger Side)

Paul, You are exactly correct. I purchased two caps from Branda, thinking that they would fit fairly well. My original driver side cap is very restorable, but my passenger cap was hit and destroyed. I'm hoping that I can get an original from Mosesatm. Thanks for the information, Russ

Rear Spoiler End Cap Needed! (Passenger Side)

I need help!!! I'm getting my lime gold GT/CS ready for the painter and found that the passenger side end cap is a mess. Does someone have a decent end cap they are willing to part with?? I'm a bit desperate.....Thanks Russ

Did a little cleaning in the wheelwells today

Very nice cleaning job!!! Regarding the paint in the fender wells, the Ford Assembly Manual states that the entire front fender well is painted semi-gloss black with areas of undercoating to the front and rear of the shock tower. The shock tower is not undercoated, but is painted black. The...

    Need diagram for T-10 Transmission

Hey Darrell, Get a copy of a 1965 Mustang shop manual, as it has everything you need to disassemble, rebuild and assemble this transmission. Good luck, and by the way, I began the restoration of my lime gold GT/CS. It is going out for paint/body on Monday. Russ

    Consider Purchasing a GT/CS-HCS Now!

I received my July 05 issue of Mustang Monthly today and read the article, "Red Hot", with great interest. The prices of Mustangs continue to increase rapidly, and while the article focused upon Cobra Jets, Shelbys and Bosses, the point is that prices on these cars are not going down anytime...

    Missing console??

I agree with Hook, drill your holes first, run the screws into the holes, install your carpet, place your console on the transmission tunnel, and find the holes with a long ice pick, THEN install the screws. Russ

    GT Vs GT/CS

As most of you know, I have a Highland green GT hardtop and Highland green GT/CS, and both cars are very similiar, in fact, nearly identical! The GT has a 302 while the GT/CS has a 289. The cars are both Arizona cars, and both are restored. Since there were 4677 GT hardtops produced, my...

    Engine Question

Casey, You can find the casting dates on the heads near the valve springs. Also cast into the heads are "289" or "302". Usually "302" indicates a later head than 1968. The casting dates will help you identify if they are "correct" for your car. Russ
