Everything that you want to know about a Mercury Cougar GT-E is contained here.

January 2011 a similar car sold for $165,000 at Barrett-Jackson.

If I could pick one 1960s era muscle car to own, a 1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E would be it. 427 or 428, I'm not picky.

The bidding stopped at $70,000 without meeting the reserve.

'69 Cougars are my FAVORITE. I once owned & drove one daily to work. (ANOTHER one I regret selling) It wasn't an XR or big block, but I think the best year/model, IMHO.

When I was 17 in the late 1970's I drove a green 1970 XR7 with a 351C 4V and that car would shred tires. I have always wanted an Eliminator with a 302.

Maybe I am not looking often enough or in the right places, but it seems the special edition Cougars very rarely come up for sale.
