302 2V would be unusal, that would have been a F code not many made. Most likly a 289 C code. Marty

It is true that some of the 302 blocks had 289 internals. Most I have seen were in the May-June block dates. They had 289 Heads if a complete original assembly.

Huh, 302-2V, or F codes, are common in 1968 Mercury Cougars. LOL

Must be part of that 'Untamed Elegance'.

Our CS has a 289 with a #'s matching 302 block with a build date of March 18. It was my understanding aswell that Ford completed 289 orders with 302 blocks once the supply of 289 blocks were exhausted. I think that 289 engines with the 302 block were the only 289's with the serial number stamped into the block.

Our 7-12-68 fastback is a C code 289 with a VIN stamped 302 block. Ford was good at cleaning house of all the 289 parts. I did not know so many E codes were used in the Cougars. Marty

I am right here

Hey, this baby is literally right in my backyard. If anyone wants me to check it out, I'd be glad to.
