Empress Hotel
Hi back Amy,
Well, although it is the Victoria harbour at night in the background, The Empress Hotel is a bit further off to the left of this photo. Like you, we couldn't quite get the shot we really wanted as the perimeter road that runs around the Victoria harbour is always busy (even at night) and we couldn't get far enough around this road to get a clear shot of the Empress in the background. We tried for another shot with more of the Parliament buildings in the background too, but in the end this was the best "clear" shot we could get that night ...

... and many thanks again to our good friend and extraordinary GT/CS mechanic Chris McCabe, who also happens to have a background in photography. It was his idea to shoot this year's photo as a night shot with the Victoria harbour in the background. He supplied the high quality digital camera, the back flash strobes, and the light reflectors we used to shoot this year's picture.
