Have any of you owned or driven a 6-cylinder Mustang. Is there any spunk to them at all? Will an air conditioner drag them down?

Thanks

Arlie,
I built a 67 Mustang coupe that was a bit of a GT/CS clone. It had side scoops and a spoiler trunk lid and end caps. This, plus a front air dam and a 69 Mach I hood scoop.

It was powered by a stock 250 6 shooter. The one other add is I removed the 3 speed toploader of the 67/68 era and bolted up a toploader 4 speed! It is a direct bolt in with the same clutch and same driveline. A true bolt in with of course the 4 speed shift linkage. No other changes at all.

The 4 speed woke up the six cylinder a whole bunch! The 3 speed has such a huge gear jump between 2nd and 3rd it really hurts the six. Give it the extra cog of a 4 speed, or better yet a 5 speed, and it is really fun to drive and works quite well. My car had the stock 4 bolt rear end with 3.25 gears that also helped a bunch.

The six has plenty of poop when given the extra gear spacing!!!

Rob

And by the way, there are 4 bolt style steel wheels available! No one will know and that is what I am doing with the current build in my shop for a customer.

We restored a 67 200 I6 with AC. I would fill the trunk put my two boys in the back seat turn on the AC and drive it 75. Then get 20+ MPG. The strait six has a lot of torque and if you use the 3.25 gears you will be pleased with the performance. It will never be a 289 though.

Arlie,
I’m sure you have seen Mustang’s advertised with Offenhauser intake manifold’s, both three singles or one 4bbl. Also split headers to a dual exhaust. I know I’m just a little bit off kilter but I really like the look of this set up.

I could put a Paxton on it and claim the car is an experimental Shelby.

Wow, love the C stripe, interior, vinyl top and the wheels. And the fog lights too!

If you buy it, will there be any fun stuff left for you to do? I think it's cleaner and nicer than my "new" car :)

There's always something to do!!
There seems to be a lot of blue engine paint to remove from parts, like the fuel pump.

That is a really good color, and a nicely done coupe. Factory deluxe interior?

Just to mess with people, I would custom make a rear valance with just one GT exhaust cutout and chromed tip.

I like the idea of a 5 speed.

It has a brake booster, does it have front discs? No power steering?

Here is the Marti. It's a little difficult to read.
- Lime Gold Exterior
- Deluxe Interior
- Both Consoles
- Power Steering
- Vinyl Top
- Deluxe Belts

I wonder if a Nissan 3.7L V6 would fit, and maybe some flush Corvette door handles?!!:cheesy::wink:
