Has anyone seen this car 'around' in the recent past?
I am trying to help a friend sell this Marti Report verified car.
My friend is wanting $20k. It would easily be a daily driver. It has been in storage for years. Ask for more pics and I will be happy to provide.
I worked for a Ford dealership in 1968 and being around this brought back a ton of memories. I had one of the first 69 Mach I's the dealer got. Champagne Gold.

Welcome, and maybe you could provide more info for those that might be interested, such as post a copy of the Marti report, let us know what engine/code it is, options, condition, you know, the stuff most people are interested in when buying a car. It looks like a nice car though. Is it in Sumner? We have several members in that general area.

Hey all, Thanks for the input. I wanted to give everyone an immediate update. I didn't have the Marti report when I posted this. After seeing the report and going over it with the owner, things change here. The car is indeed a CS. It is a C car. Everything seems right EXCEPT that the engine was changed from a 289 2V to a 302 4V and the transmission from a 3 speed to a 4 speed.

I have added the Marti report.

The car REALLY is clean and 'original' looking. The owner now understands that the alterations change the 'value' as it sits. He is what I would call 'a motivated seller' open to offers.

I'll be in that area on Wednesday and if it works for the seller I may be able to inspect it for anyone who is interested.

Do you know if the quarter panels have been replaced?

The June build date is late in the run but the quarters seem to have recessed reflectors, which indicates and early build.

More Info

In quick answer to your question, I don't know. Now that you pose the question though, having been in the auto industry most of my life, I will check out the 'obvious clues' of quarter replacement.
I added the pics in question.
My friend that I am posting for was awarded this car, a 68 big block Vette and a mint, ALL ORIGINAL & numbers matching 62 Corvette Roadster with both tops. My friend is totally NOT into cars. Knowing that I always have been, I was asked to help. I have talked him into keeping the 62 Vette and tried to talk him into keeping this 68 Mustang. They both were that nice.
So....to spare you all the details here ( feel free to ask more if you need it in email ) I will stop for now.

Thanks again for the input. I will check the car quarters tomorrow.

Rare Car guy,
I am in Bremerton and would like to see this car or close pics of it. The quarters are from alot earlier car than the build date. But I am one who says who knows what may have happened. My car had the scripts in a higher position than normal like your pictures. I still have the original holes in my quarter panel. Would love to meet with you and talk about this car.

Pluses and minuses.
Aftermarket vintage looking air conditioning is not a bad thing. Put it in the good pile.
The cutoff for that style of quarter reflectors is mid February-ish.
Personally I would much prefer the 4 speed over the 3 speed, although it looks like the wrong shifter. Does it have the round lock out ring under the shift handle? If it is a toploader 4 speed, I would call that a big plus.

Nice looking car, I like the paint color and stripe combination.

Amy, what time frame were you thinking of or are you waiting to see whose interested? If the timing works, I'm in, I have to be to work at 8, in Everett.

BTW, nice looking car, rarecarguy. I like the color combo.

This sounds like a great plan. Specials, burgers, and friends.
Can we do it early enough so Bret can be there? Bret, you work at 8p?

:) .... No, I am NOT related to Rob. I look forward to meeting him though.....LOL.

I am wanting to address a couple of items brought up earlier.

The shift linkage. Yes, it does have the 'T' reverse lockout. See the pic I attached to this post.

The quarter panels ( both R & L ) appear to be the originals. I really looked closely on the door jamb, sail panel and rear light panel and valance. Here is the oddity though. The quarters are indeed stamped for 'recessed side marker lamps'. The holes are there ( as Rob pointed out with his ) and appear to have had jam nuts on them ( note the pics ) from the correct lamps.

I can't answer this one...... for sure. But here are the pics guys.

BTW ..... Someone correct me PLEASE if my posting the pics of a couple of my own personal rigs violates something. I wouldn't wanna do that. :-J
