All,

Can you tell me what are deemed acceptable gaps between the hood, by the cowl area? I have about a 1/2" or so. Seems too much to me??? While I'm asking, how about the trunk and doors.

Thanks in advance!

Hood and trunk lid gap is about 1/8 inch in my experience. Door to fender, door to sill, and door jam gap is a bit closer. Say 1/8 of an inch or just a bit less. Door gap is the most fun. The sequence that seems to work best for me is:

1. Fit door to door jam and bottom sill with front fender off the car.
2. Adjust door window fit and the wing and to the roof.
3. Install rear quarter window and align to front window and roof.
4. Install front fender and align to door. Leave front part to fender loose.
5. Install hood and align to cowl.
6. Carefully bring hood down and ensure that hood clears fenders.
7. Bring fenders into alignment with hood.
8. Say hallelujah!! Test drive and put on the stripes!

You can move a 1968 door with the fender on with 1/4 inch drive extensions a 1/2 inch swivel six point socket combo. You need a second person and a ton of patience!!
