1968 Do you licence your GT/CS for the entire year?

Well, as of September 5th our GT/CS turned back into a "pumpkin" when the insurance expired. We only put 6 months insurance on it each year and drive it during the good weather. Up here in Canada we can then put a "storage policy" on it through ICBC (Insurance Corporation of British Columbia, our Provincial government auto insurance corporation), which is very reasonable and then it is covered in storage in case of a "disaster". We garage it for the winter and I only fire it up about once a month and back it out into the driveway to run it for a bit to keep the battery charged and to keep moisture from accumulating in the exhaust system and interior. As a general rule we don't get much snow up here in Victoria, but we do get LOTS of rain over the winter with a fair bit of humidity.
How about the other folks on this forum? Do you licence and insure your GT/CS for the entire year as a "driver", or do you only licence it for summer driving and "show and shine" events?
Just curious ...

I fully insure my GT/CS just for when the weather is good. I license it and insure it like a regular car. Once the weather gets bad I have the insurance company switch it to comprehensive so I can store it. I don't have a garage right now though.

I run plates year round at $90 (vanity plates - not antique ones), and insurance through Hagarty year round (costs about $250 a year for $39k coverage - liability, comp and collision). In winter I start it once a month and run it for 30 minutes - I put it in drive, reverse and move it a foot or two back and forth. But, we do get a bit of snow here in Chicago .

Ditto what Randy said. I can (and do) drive mine year round here in Arizona, though the summers cook it a bit!

Hagerty costs about $250+ for $35K of complete coverage, and plates/reg (vanity) costs about $55. One bonus of having classic car insurance is that I don't have to smog it.

Well worth it - no worries, no switching back & forth as the seasons change (though they don't change much here).

Year round on both and we have snow, lot's and lot's of wonderful white snow and it sits in the garage fully insured and fully registered dreaming of summer days.

I insure it year round here in Missouri. Winters here do interfere with driving it, but it's only for 2 or 3 months at the most.

I license and insure mine year round in Southern California. Contrary to what people think, we DO have four seasons:

Earthquake, Fire, Flood and Wind.

I'm from New Hampshire, and we have 2 seasons: winter and construction ! Really though, my California Special is licensed for year round, but she's put to bed mid -November and comes out around the 1st of April (after we've had a couple of rain storms to wash the salt away). My car is garaged year round, and in the winter, I try to fire her up every 2 weeks and run it in the driveway for 25 minutes just to keep things flowing and the battery up. I only drive it when the weather is sunny and dry and no rain in sight. I am insured through American Collectors Insurance for $41k at $252/year. Sam

Did you have to remind me, the 07 licence are due next month and we put licence on all our vehichles year round, the only thing I do is store the Mustangs for the winter months and take off the insurance when I do at a much lower rate. Reminds me I will be putting the Convert away last of next month or maybe first of November  and lets not rush the CS just yet. Where has the summer gone, way to fast for this one.

That's about right Donna!

I too have mine registered and insured year round. I like to have it "ready to drive" at any time of the year, and since I don't get any snow here, I can always get my GT/CS fix whenever I need it.

I have the option to 'go dark' and store it in the garage during winter months, and it's just the minimal price. I only will put it away when it's below 50 F, since she's from California after all. Brrrr.

If I had my way the 68 would be my daily driver. Someday.... someday...

We are in Eastern Canada and our driving starts in mid May and ends in November, if lucky. We generally get black ice before we get snow, that brings out the salt and the cars go bye-bye.

We license and insure our car for the full year because the antique insurance is reasonablly priced and includes "snow load" on your garage or storage space. Don't even want to think about that.

We pay $75.00 annually for license, up from $25.00 two years ago. It can be pro rated, but it's not worth the hassel to bring it back to the DMV for a refund.

This past year in Saskatoon we had 6 months of winter and 6 months of tough sledding! LOL. I just put antique plates on for 6 months but keep my additional insurance on year round. September has been the start of summer and finally getting some miles on the 67.

Licensed insured and driven year round.

Same here - of course don't drive it in the rain, fog, blistering hot days, when we have fires going or in a lot of traffic. That amounts to maybe 30 days a year... Mostly kidding but as my wife would say "truth in humor"
