I have these on my car, but it has the deluxe door panels. It's a speaker grill.

Yep, those house and hide the door lights and the speakers. I think they were on deluxe interior cars only.

The grilles, light housings, lenses, and wiring between the door post and the door, can be purchased from any of the big Mustang vendors. I haven't found the correct speakers yet but any small speakers should work.

Here are the pertinent pages from the NPD catalog, showing the required parts.

Arlie, thanks. I figured you would have the answer if anyone would. I learned something new today. I knew the differences in the door panels for '66. But I didnt know there was a difference for '68. Thanks, Casey

Here's a picture of a deluxe door with the light in the grille. Can't quite see the speaker.

The deluxe interior wasn't required. You could get them just by ordering the AM/FM stereo. If memory serves, the correct speaker is a 4"x7", which no body makes. I used Sony 4" x 6" and they work fine.

I saw that you noted it was cold when you were here. 30's Farenheit is balmy for Chicago. Come back in February and you will see real cold! I was hoping you might call when you were here. Please let me know if you ever get back to the area. Casey

The doors on my car have those grills. I was`nt sure where to put a speaker behind it though. Would have to be a small one right?

Don't think so, the handles are the same for standard or deluxe. The shorties go in the rear. They have allen screws for retaining them on the shaft. The fronts have center screws with a self adhesive cap. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how mine are on my car.

I think Jason might be right. There are both long handles and short handles with phillips set screws. I posted a thread a long time asking about why there are different handles.
