Amy,

According to the Marti report the car was originally Diamond Blue which is almost white. It is like they had just a little baby blue left over and decided to mix is up with a bunch of white. What they ended up with was white with just a hint of blue.

Cheers,

Ron

Thank you, I'm still looking to purchase a C/S so if I bid I dont want to over-bid. There is another one on E-bay that is aqua with a 289 what would be the max anyone would pay for this?

Thanks,
Gary

That looks nice, I think someone took some liberties on that restoration though. Not a bad thing, I like the door panels.

Standard interior with decor door panels.

I doubt the authentic exhaust claim too.

Nice looking car, I would have put disc brakes on it though.

Did 1968's with 289's and air conditioning still come with the 20" radiator?

If it has factory A/C, they came with the large radiator, shroud, 5 bladed flex fan. I had an original 289 in that config.
The one mentioned here looks like the non-A/C radiator. The GT exhaust was probably added (as I did to my own). The lower door panels were added (part of the Deluxe Interior package). Note there is no interior lite or speaker in the lower door panels. It has the deluxe steering wheel (looks in GOOD condition), and one of the grill photos shows Marchal light mounting brackets. Nice looking car.

The door speaker/light trim also came with the 8-track, and possibly with the am/fm radio. The upgraded stereos got door speakers.

So what do you think would be a good price on this car? (the one with the 289)

Thanks,
Gary

Mine is an AM/FM radio and has the grill with speakers. It had factory looking tape over the light holes and the wiring was present, so I removed the tape and installed the lights.

Hey Gary I think you need to do due diligence by getting a "Mart" report for this vehicle (like the X code has) this will tell you what came with the car from factory and what was added. A 289 doesnt command additional money but this a very clean car and offered being offer by a car dealer they will be looking for higher end.

Also you should definitely get it inspected locally (maybe someone on the forum is close) and there are a recent thread on this forum about someone who purchased a CS on eBay from private person however was not able to take ownership of it..and still trying to get his money back. In this case looks like a solid business but please verify first but make sure you are covered.

That being said with the options it has AC, power steering, non disc, but added dual exhaust and interior.

That being said I would say $15K-17K range would be a deal but also if it what you want (color powerplant)...if its close to you (shipping costs) all factors into it. Not sure if you want a complete car or something you can work on but it comes down to what your willing to pay in this market.

Good luck and let us know how it goes. I wish I had cash for the X code!! Nice.. (minus the grand for the belt!!)

Robert's right - get a Marti Report for 1, verification of a C/S, and 2, original configuration. Robert's numbers & mine are pretty close.

Hello everyone. I'm actually new to this site but look forward to adding a GT/CS to the registry as soon as I can find one myself.

Gary. I live in Dallas and actually looked at the car yesterday. It is a great looking car. A few detail items on the interior & exterior (a couple of lights out, some worn chrome, AC vents worn/broken, something is going on with the sun visor, etc.) I didn't like what they had done with the 'deluxe' trim on the door. You can see the metal through the door trim (your not fooling anyone) so I would definitely remove if this was my car (although I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to fill the metal holes). The brakes definitely need be checked out (a little spungy). The engine started fine and tranny seemed ok (I'm by no means an expert). The only thing that concerned me was that after I left I seemed to have a slight burned oil smell on my clothes. I may be overly sensitive. If you pursue definitely get the engine checked out though.

Also, the car has been in storage for a while (I think over a year) so maybe some of the more experienced members can let us know if there are any concerns with that...

I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to bid...Good luck!

I talked to the guy there and he told me the reserve was set at $23,500 That seems way to high. There is a white 68 C/S on e-bay now that is in L.A. about 3 hours away from me the link is above in my last post, so I was wondering what everyone thought of that one. (the color combo would not be my first choice but the original color was lime gold)

Thank for all the input,
Gary
