What is the best way to transport a engine? I dont have a engine stand. I was thinking of making a crate. I went and bought some wood. Any suggestions? a sturdy pallet and some creative blocking. With a bit of cutting you can mimic the mounts in your car for the rubber motor mounts. A small stack of blocks under the very back of the pan. This allows for use of a fork lift to move it around.

How far are you going? Are you the transporter?

A used tire works well under the pan. Just the tire, not the wheel.

Do you have an engine hoist? Does the rebuilder have one? if you leave the exhaust manifolds on 4 healthy guys can lift it onto a truck tail gate.

I have seen the used tire work very well. Done it myself years ago. Couple of tie downs with the engine firmly to the front of the bed with a used tire to "smoosh" up against.

Remove the flywheel. Many a bent automatic flywheel is from transportation.

When we pulled the engine on our '66 I used an engine cradle. Got it from Amazon. The bolt holes took a little "messaging", but I got it to work.

We are not at home for a couple of weeks. But If you can wait & want to pay shipping, I will ship the cradle to you, and you can have it.

Thanks Dave for the offer , but I'll be bringing it Tuesday. I took the flywheel off with a shallow socket and cut my finger and a knuckle. That flywheel is sharp. Lesson learned.
