funny its an 8R01C but there is a 302 sticker on the air cleaner...it would be nice to have a little information about the car...for instance is it a 289 or 302...has the motor been rebuilt....has the trans been rebuilt?

that baby is beautiful though

You beat me to this one Arlie. Nice looking car!

Should the stripes be white though? I don't have my registry in front of me but I though when I looked up this color (which is my original exterior and interior) I thought the chart said white.

Or could you choose?

I sent the seller an email asking about the engine.

It certainly has a dealer's engine paint job, Ford blue everywhere.

Hi all,
My first post here.

As per the 96 registry, the stripes were white. I also emailed the seller yesterday to inquire about the engine label 302 vs 289.

Amazes me. Unibody car with a full body off restoration. They sure did a pretty crappy job in the engine bay and undercarriage considering their BIN price. Considering the way they painted the engine makes me wonder what they are trying to hide. But, as usual, that's just my take on it. Car does look nice on the outside though.

Don

nice car. super nice photo job. in addition to other comments, the tail light frame should not be black (I know, I am becoming the "tail light frame police"). And the stripe should not go under the scoop - ie, it shouldnt show in front of the scoop on the quarter panel. i like the lime green - nice color. casey

My thoughts exactly, Don.

I kept scrolling through the pictures thinking how good the car looked, but then the engine picture made me wonder if this car's beauty is only skin deep.

I don't mind an un-detailed engine compartment but seeing one where everything on the engine is painted blue is a huge red flag to me. That engine painting job certainly makes me question everything about the car and makes me also wonder what they are hiding.

I would like to think for a BIN price of $32,900 you wouldn't have a lot of work to do to it. But, I remember when I bought mine, I really had to do some wheeling and dealing to get them off their price. I don't see anyway they will get their BIN price. I just hope who ever buys it makes a trip to actually look the car over and doesn't just buy it from pictures alone.

Here is the response from the seller.

The selling price on their web-site is $34,900

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in our 1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special. This wonderful vehicle was purchased from the second owner who was also responsible for this gorgeous restoration! It will come with photo documentation throughout that process along with several trophies it won from car shows in the Pacific Northwest over many years. We will be changing the sticker you see on the air cleaner. It has been confirmed that this is the original motor and the previous owner added the 302 cid sticker for unknown reasons. This is the original 289cid power plant. Sorry for any confusion. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this vehicle in greater detail by phone. Feel free to call me so we can go over the purchase arrangements or any additional questions you may have. My contact information is below. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Looks very nice, that is the Lime Gold color, appears to have drum brakes and a cracked steering wheel. I liked them with that console. (My Cougar had that)

Per the BIN price, he wants "all the money" for this car. Thanks for pointing out the flaws; For the price he should display the Marti Reprt on it, I would think

What's up with the vinyl covers for the fog lights? Like a WWII Wehrmacht truck!!

Arlie and Don - YOU GUYS KNOW THESE to the nut and bolt. My education continues. BTW Tim told me at the show, the early CS cars had the square rear maker lights, and the later ones had the oblong rounded ones (like this example) I only noticed the difference when I saw 2 of Tim's Specials side by side, that difference became obvious.

I'm sure our own Miss Diesel Donna will be encouraged to see this car that looks like hers f/s at this price- looks like her original $800 investment has appreciated quite nicely - most American cars have gone down down down!!!

Must be a canned response. That is the first thing I noticed when the auction popped up, and the same response was in my inbox this morning.
