Anyone out there have a F-150 with the EcoBoost engine? Wondering what type of highway mileage they get in the real world. Can't seem to find a consistent answer. Thinking about picking one up.

I have a 2012 F-150 XLT SuperCab 4wd with EcoBoost. My truck is equipped with the "Off Road" package which includes the 3.73 electronic locking rear axle (I think the standard axle is a 3.31 open). I've seen 20 mpg on the interstate, driving 65-70 mph on mostly flat ground, using the cruise control (with the A/C on). That's unloaded of course. Haven't towed anything with it yet. I'm very satisfied with the truck. It's quiet, comfortable, powerful and economical (for a full-size truck). The build quality is excellent. I heartily recommend it!! Happy shopping

F150 Ecoboost

I have a 2012 F150 Ecoboost base model that I ordered with a 3:55 Electronic locking rear as opposed to the standard package 3:15 and I get ~ 20 mpg when I keep it ~ 65 on the cruise. I notice a dropoff when I go 75. Note: I run regular unleaded - - a friend that works at a Ford dealership said I should get 1-2 mpg more if I was to use Premium Unleaded. I tried it on a trip to Dallas and I did notice an increase, but not worth it to me for the price difference of gas. He did say the turbos would work more efficiently with Premium. I love my F150!

I have heard nothing but great things about the f-150 eco-boosts. I have a buddy whom is running a larger exhaust and a CAI and is not only acheiving better HP numbers, but overall better fuel MPG (he says his average is 22-23 mpg) On highway. I would have got one but decided on buying a new jeep srt8 instead haha

Well if I could hit that with the mileage I would be really happy. Need something roomier for my daily driver. I drive about 500 miles a week in my job. Have a Ford Edge now that gets about 20 mpg with AWD. Love the vehicle but I'm starting to have some problems I think are driving ergnomics related. So I need a vehicle I can get the seat higher and in a better position. I think the F150 will fit the bill.

I just picked up a 2013 F 150 ext cab w/ the ecoboost. I've only put 1000 miles on it so far, so I can't testify to the mileage. But so far I'm really impressed with the performance. Great acceleration and very smooth running for a little V6. You won't be disappointed.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm in the market now for a new F-150 and I'm wondering how everyone still likes theirs? I'm looking at being able to tow the Bronco and Mustang (not at the same time!) so I'm estimating about 6500# total trailer weight.

I'm looking at the 3.55 or 3.73 gears since these give the higher tow capacities. (9800# and 11300# respectively with the Ecoboost engine)

I test drove an Ecoboost yesterday and it was amazingly smooth and really had a lot of pep. Trucks have come a long way in creature comforts!

Anyway, I'm just looking for some real world feedback. Thanks!

Go to the F150 Forum and also Google and research. There are lots of issues with them. Some have had no issues many have. They are thirsty under load in the Turbos

I have had my F-150 Lariat SuperCrew Cab with the EcoBoost since July 2012. (about 1 1/2 years) and absolutely love it!

Very smooth as mentioned above and plenty of pep.

Straight highway runs I've done 21-22 MPG. Around town mixed driving I'm getting about 15-16 MPG. Was getting 13-14 with my V8 Expedition and lucky if I hit 18 on the highway.

Very happy with it. It's our family hauler - my wife didn't want a minivan so this was it. Plenty of backseat room for the 3 kids.

No regrets.
