Can someone shed some light on what these foglights might be? Looks like maybe Marchal housings with ? lenses? These are on a GT/CS I am considering purchasing and I only have this one photo at this time. Thanks.

The housings certainly look like Marchals, but to me they look too big.

Looks like Marchal housings and a "custom" insert of a different fog light type. Kind of clever, but it just doesn't look quite right.

During the 1970's there were about three different Fog Lights that had those same "eyebrows" like the Marchals. One of them has this metal pinhead right in the middle of the lens.

They aren't worth much, about $20 each, and you can find them at swap meets, or on old RVs, etc. They do look good, and if you want something to drive with, I'd go get a set. At a distance, they look just like a set of Marchals.

You might get points off at a car show, but like everything else, that's up to you, the owner.

They show up on eBay every once-in-a-while. I bought a set real cheap and am considering installing them on my Lucas-equipped car.

I know that you're aware of this, Arlie, but (in general,for everyone else) it's "Buyer Beware" when looking at old fog lights. Some on-line sellers like to think they're sitting on a fog light gold mine, thinking (or wishing) they're Marchals. There is one in particular that has a @ 1/8" pin head in the center of the glass, and look a lot like Marchals. The 656, etc., Marchals DO NOT have this pin in the glass.

As ambiguous as Marchals are I'm sure someone has bought similar lights thinking they found a bargain. I wonder if Marchal lenses will fit in those housings?

Another version of the Marchal we haven't talked about yet is the 658, which seems to look just like the 656 and and 653. I think there might also be a 652 which looks similar.

Geez, and I thought Lucas lights were complicated!

I've been curious for a while also so I did the check. The Speedstar light will NOT fit in the Marchal housing. The Marchal light did fit in the speedstar housing but is to small to seal against the housing lip. In this photo the Marchal light is in the Speedstar frame and held flush and tight against the bottom and left side.

Arlie;
Look at May 06 calander photo of my car and you'll see a set of "658's". The only difference is they are the clear driving lens' which I actually like better than the fog lens'. You can also see a better shot of them in my gallery photo's. It's not hard to tell the lens' apart since all have distinctive markings with there particular #'s (i.e., 653, 656 and 658) on the lens'.

So,Don, I think you're on to something here. Could one assume that the Marchal "650" lights series varied by the type and color of the lenses? Could you (or anyone else) identify a list? Such as:

650 = ?
651 =
652 =
653 =
etc....to 656 = Fog
658 = clear?

this might help a lot of folks out, and even help know what fits what, so when we're out at the swaps, we know what we can grab to assemble lights correctly. BTW-- I personally like the clear lenses, even though they weren't "factory". Cool.
Thanks, Don--
