Yeah, I'm a doctor and I do think independently, everyday, all day. No need for the snipe Joe. I wouldn't be doing what I do today if I "followed" an aberrant line of thinking. I do understand your view perfectly, you just can't accept the idea that I don't agree with you. The idea of legalized drugs and their supposed "responsible" use without consideration of their life changing consequences is a ridiculous premise and I think you know that. Let's agree to disagree on this one. I'm certainly not going to change your mind and I'm not attempting to change yours. I think we've exhausted this subject so let's end it here and agree to disagree in an agreeable manner. You can have the last word.

I can completely accept that you don't agree with me. Most people don't on this subject (liberal or conservative). I agree that, for many (and maybe even most) people that use drugs, there are life changing consequences. I just don't believe jail should be one of those, if they have not harmed others.

There will always be addicts that self-destruct. There's not much we can do about that. We surely don't stop it now. Jails just aren't the answer for those that do not bring us harm.

In closing, I apologize for the "snipe". I resorted to the very thing I was accusing you of ("quick to patronize"). I respect your right to your opinion. Please allow me mine.
