Hey guys,

my Name is Viktor, i’m from the northern part of Germany and a lucky owner of a 68‘ GT/CS. This vehicle was actually produced on the 20th of february 68, 5 days after production-date according to the marti report.

I’m wondering concerning the cutouts in the back rear. I have attached a few pictures. It would be very kind, if someone of you could tell me, if these cutouts are original and normal? Please let me know, if you need some other detailled information of the GT/CS.

Thanks for your know-how and responses in advance!

Kind Regards
Vik

Vik,
The edges of the cuts are a little more ragged than I’m used to seeing but they are correct. Has anyone else seen such rough cuts?
The black covers don’t seem to fit correctly. It looks to me like they don’t extend far enough into the trunk. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone replaced the rear panel. Everything else also looks correct.

Here is a photo of an original tail light area.

These cardboard panels hide the cutouts.

There is also a foam strip that should be under the rear spoiler.

Here's another photo of the cutouts.

Is your car in the registry?

Hallo Mosesatm,

thank you for your quick response and information!

Would be nice to know, if someone else has seen such rough cuts.

Yes this car is registrated under following VIN #8R01C142577. It's still just from the previous owner.

Greetings
Vik

Cuts are very rough indeed! Card board covers are available from Dead Nuts On Mustang Parts. Very accurate reproductions for about $80.00.
