Has anyone else have problems with the rear view mirror falling off the windshield? I have re-glued it about 4 times. The heat and humidity makes it fall off. 30-40 years ago they never fell off. What have others used? Im really considering putting a 67 mount in the car with a 67 rear view mirror.

I vote for the ‘67 mirror, unless you’re worried about authenticity.

I have never had one come off. Are you buying the kit to put them on? It is really important to clean both surfaces well.

I also haven't had one fall off in probably 30 years. And my Bronco sits outside all through AZ summers of 120+ deg days.

I just use the Permatex kit at the local parts store. And yes, cleaning both surfaces is key. Use a razor blade to be sure all the old adhesive is off the glass, then just the cleaner/activator pad that comes in the kit. For the mounting tab I sanded down the mating surface perfectly flat w/ sand paper on a flat piece of glass.

Don't put too much adhesive. More isn't better here. One drop should properly coat the whole surface of the mounting tab.

Use painters tape to hold the tab on when you apply it to the windshield. Then I give the mounting tab a day to cure before re-attaching the mirror.

I've heard if you glue the tab on when it's cold, then it's more likely to fall off when the weather gets hot. Never been an issue for me in AZ! ;)
