If its in the U.K., we have a few owners/members over there that maybe can look it over for you. I can try to find their email address if you want. I know theres at least one other "lime-gold" GT/CS over there in England.

Hey guys, lets tell Kobol what we can see about this GT/CS he is enquiring about, ok? He`s asking for our opinion.

The listing says it has a Marti report already, so it must be real. The seller has a very good feedback rating and the car looks pretty good.

It says in the ad that the car comes with a Marti report to prove authenticity. Everything looks correct. It even has a rare bench seat and it might be a J-code (302 engine).

Looks right. Get the owner to send you a copy (photo, whatever) of the Marti report. You can then post it to us, and we can then tell you a lot more about the car. Only the Marti report can tell you if it is the real deal. The rest (options, original parts, engine, color, etc) we can help you with from the Marti report. Casey

thanks a lot everybody !!

I noticed the missing hood lock too , and i have asked two times for the VIN already without response ....

She looks quite good but the price is "quite cheap" I think , so .....I have some doubts ....A CS is unusual in Europe , and a lot more for the price of a standard hard top coupe ....

I'll keep you informed ....to be ontinued

Hello Kobol!! Welcome to the boards...

I just sent an e-mail to the other "only" GT/CS owner in the UK., and he might get to see it for you (big maybe, tho'), but we'll try....

Yes--a Marti report would be the last word on this car. The writeup for the car on the EBAY listing sounds just a tad "tweaked"...LOL. At least post the VIN number (begins with "8R01") here, so we can begin to look at it.

By the way...you say that you're French. Does that mean that you live in France? Have you ever heard of "Marchal" (pt. nos. 653/656) fog lights, from about 1967-68? DO you happen to go to automotive swap meets (auto jumbles)???

We'll look out for you--thanks for presenting what you found over there.

Many thanks ...

I've just been contacted by the owner of the car , he politely refuse to give me any number on the car , and don't want to send a copy of the Marti report

He don't want this number to be used ....( for what?)

Yes I live in France , I will have an eye on MARCHAL fog lights

Is there that sort of article ??

Well, without knowing the vin number or seeing the Marti report it will be difficult to find out most information about the car. Tell the seller to log in to this site and we`ll give him some advice.:icon_twis :icon_ecst

Here is the response ....

"yes it is a real cs, thats what the marti report confirms...yes
the twist locks are missing from bonnet, as it must have had a new bonnet
fitted in the states before it came over...check out the pic's and you will
see the front panel catch brackets for the twist locks...these are spot welded
to the front panel and are only on cs/shelbys...this is a j code 302/4v,
but i'm not giving out chassis numbers to anyone...come and see if you are
genuine, but its a cs....i'm not bothered if it don't sell...i will keep
it till next year, just i have too many, and trying to buy some more mustangs
and a shelby for resto...all i can say is the vin number matches the v5 and
the marti report, which says its a california special"

I 'll have to go to England to check this out !:icon_evil

What do you think ??

I think if he's not willing to give you the VIN or a copy of the Marti report you should walk away. There are way too many scams going on eBay, so if a buyer isn't willing to give up a VIN then they aren't serious about selling the car.

*** edit: Looks like Jason types faster then me. ***

Hi Again, Kobol.

A couple of things...

First, the hood lock retainers he is talking about (the owner) are different for each the GT/CS, AND Shelby. The GT/CS one is bolted, not welded to what was the hood bumper bracket, mounted on the core support (2). The Shelby one is pop-riveted on (I think), but never welded on.

Second, he has nothing to lose by providing the VIN (not sure what a "V5" is). Something is fishy. Why would he seem irritated at your asking? I noticed another Mustang in the background (yellow one) with another set of LeMans stripes. You should ask this seller: "are the big stripes on the top of the car original"? (trick question--they weren't originally on the CS).

The rear deck stripes are not placed on right--they are too high; but even a few restored CSs have stripe goofs.

This is not the only GT/CS in the UK. I know of two others in the Registry.

I noticed that it also has a bench seat--something very rare. (less than 2%).

Could he provide any photos of the trunk? Can we see the inside of the taillights? We don't want you to have to go to the UK, we can probably figure this out here. The folks here are very knowledgable and vigilant about accuracy.

On another note--here are a couple photos of the Marchal Fog lights. More on that later. First is helping you out here.

Paul.

p.s. if the seller listed this website as a source of information in the EBAY ad, I'm wondering who is now reading this thread that is in the UK, or the seller himself? Perhaps the seller could provide the VIN right here for us, and we can check with Marti. But, in the longrun, JB and others are right--there will be others; maybe pass on this one. Heck, maybe someone here in the States might sell you a real nice one, and ship it over to you (any advice, DAR?).

The current owner can't go to the car and take his own pictures? Keeps sounding fishier and fishier.

There is no "Califoria Special" script on the driver's side in the 2nd picture.

I agree with the others either walk away or be extremely cautious and don't send any money without seeing the car and the title.

i'm not going to send one cent before seing it

I don't know why the owner is so "shy" to give me information ....

The weirder is the price about 15000 $ ...don't you think it is cheap for such a potential rarity ?
