Staving for gas

I have been having some problems with gas getting to the carb, but could not pin-point the problem. Well, this past weekend I was checking the bottom side of my floorboards and found the metal fuel line that runs along the drivers side floor had been crushed. This was probably done when someone tried to jackup the car in the wrong location. The line was almost completely crushed (see pics). I have ordered a new line, but in the meantime I just cut out the crushed part and replaced it with rubber tubing. If you are having problems with your fuel flow you may want to check your lines.

Wow! There wasn't much getting through that line.

I had a similar problem with a brake line. The car started pulling hard when braking. Took me a while to track it down to a crushed brake line from a tow truck driver who wasn't very careful where he placed his chains around the axle.

Stuff happens

This happened to me during a sports car rally. I was way out in the middle of nowhere, farm land around Cheney WA, when my car just quit running. I tinkered, poked and prodded but could not get her going again. Meanwhile, my navigator, in her bikini, got really sunburned and was not too impressed - she wouldn't navigate for me after that. Another rally car came by and gave us a ride back to town. When I went back to tow the car, I found the crushed gas line, must have hit a rock or something. I wonder where that navigator is today? ?

I guess if you are doing a rally, having a "bikini" navigator is a good thing....but if your broken down car made her not want to navigate for you ever again, then that is a bad thing.

You know It's just killing me not saying something about the navigators navigating.
And I thought this was going to be a thread about how fuel is down to $2.05 now.
