"Special" Christmas present ....
Many thanks ... we had a short visit with the car this last Sunday when we dropped by the shop of the young fellow that is doing the work for us. He has the replacement stripe kit partially installed now, and will make a few small mechanical repairs while it's there, then we should be able to bring it home. It'll need a few more misc parts detailed or replaced to "tune" it up a little bit. We'll post some more photos of the car in the gallery as the work is completed.
We'll be getting a Marti report done on the car this year, and will post it on the site when we get it in hand. I sent a message to Paul with the VIN so that he can add it to the online registry. It appears it will be the 20th 390 ci 4V "S" code car listed there.
Our second Mustang, or I suppose I should say our "first" Mustang really, is a 65 Fastback that I have owned for the past 27 1/2 years now. It's at the same shop for reassembly as a GT-350 Shelby clone. It'll be in traditional white and blue stripes, with the original 289 "tweaked" to Shelby specs at about 300 - 310 hp. We replaced the toploader with a T5, 9" Ford rear, 16x8 Vintage Wheel Works US Racing clones, Global West negative roll kit in front, discs, new Global West rear springs, welded in Global West sub-frame connectors, etc., etc. I've had all the interior and exterior parts to convert it into a GT-350 clone for many, many years now, so it's time to get it all back together this year. It's easy to get carried away with these projects! We're looking forward to having this one back on the road again, hopefully this summer. It would be dynamite to pull up to some of our local Show & Shine events with me driving my 65 Shelby clone and the wife driving our 68 GT/CS "wedding car" ..... "His and Hers" Mustangs. Way too much fun and should turn a few heads!
We love the website, and have read through and copied many of the tips and tech articles already about the GT/CS cars for reference. Many thanks to all those knowledgeable members that give up their spare time to post all this great info for the rest of us.
Best regards to all,
"GT/CS S Code"
