I just bought some "Old Ford Blue", but they also sold "Dark Ford Blue" and "Ford Blue".

The engine is a 73 and is already the "Ford Blue" color, but I pulled it, cleaned it and am putting new seals in it and want it to be year correct for the GT/CS body. I am fairly sure that the Ford Blue is not year correct and is way to light and creamy for a 68.

I've seen many threads on other sites (and there are lots of opinions), prefer to use duplicolor because it's what I can get locally and quickly.

Any thoughts?

I thought the 0224 is a Plasticote. I am thinking 1606 Duplicolor is what some forums have. I guess my 1621 "old" ford blue goes back tomorrow. I just don't want to go through all the effort and have it not be correct.

Sorry, yes 224 is Plasticote. Duplicolor 1606 may be a little too dark but IMHO it will look much better than the lighter 1621.

I'll send you a couple cans of 224 if you want.

Thanks for the offer

Thanks for the offer! I'll tryto source some locally or on amazon tho. I hope to be ready for paint this week.

Here is a picture of the engine and the light blue color before I pulled it and another pick of the front clip that I removed. It was repaired poorly by own of the previous owners. The panels needed replacement so I welded a new clip on. Never did it before but it looks good. I'll update my profile pictures as I do some more work...Thanks!

I agree on the 224 Duplicolor.

I had bought the Old Ford Blue (Duplicolor 205) and well it's sitting on the shelf in my garage.

Very happy with the results with the 224.

I based the 224 on research online and input from many Mustang "experts".

I found it easily in my area in NY, you shouldn't have a problem in NJ.
I got mine at either Auto Zone, Advanced or a local auto parts store. (Carquest)

Here are some pictures of my engine with the 224 color.
