What color should the power steering canister be? The color chart that I saw recently says black, but when I was at the Long Beach car show I saw them painted “teal”

Thanks - Doug

So does anyone know or have a therory about how some were painted teal and others black? Was it random or did it have to do with the manufacturer? I'm curious because every one I've looked at are Teal. Any thoughts?

Agreed. I've never seen any original black pumps either. Besides, the teal ones look cool.

This is why I asked the question. I've been looking at the color chart shown above and saw "black" but every car I've seen at car shows are Teal.

My car was just over 50K miles when I bought it and had been sitting since '79, and the pump was black so I repainted the replacement black. I have no idea of course if it had been changed out prior to that. Could the predominance of Teal colored pumps be because everyone thinks that's what it should be so it gets "overrestored"?
