1968 How much should I offer?

I need to have Neil do my restorations. When I did the one on my CS several years ago, I put $20K into it, not including the purchase of the car. The '73 Mach 1 I'm finishing up is also at $20K, and will go a little higher before I'm done. I would guess $2-$3K for the car would be fair. It's...

    1968 Hood Retainers

I just used clear silicone. I also glued a fender washer to the underside of the hood to keep the hood pins from wandering off when I wasn't paying attention. Steve

    1968 CS Steering Play

The steering box can be adjusted some, and there might be worn components in the front end, but even if everything is rebuilt to stock, it will seem like a lot of play compared to today's cars. Have the car checked by at least 2, preferable 3, reputable shops and compare what they say. Some...

Very nice TJ. Wish I could've been there to pitch in and help but it looks like you did a fine job. Steve

    poster for my 07 GT/CS

I like #2, but I'd remove the Ford logo and the GT/CS and leave the two cars, Mustang and CS script. Steve

    Gotta be the worst!...

You know, I've watched the Mad Max movies a few times in spite of Mel Gibson being in them, because of those Falcon's. I wish Ford would've built them here as well. Maybe someday when I'm rich, I can import one to play with. Steve

    The Boss is back ...

A 440 hp factory Mustang that might come in around $40K? What's not to like. Now if they come out with a 5.8 version of the 5.0 Coyote engine, maybe 600 hp, and call it the Boss 351, I figure my family will be reading my will because I've died and gone to heaven. Steve

    69 Ranchero SPV

When in doubt, search Wikipedia. A little-known and extremely rare offering in 1969 was the Rio Grande. Available on special order, this was essentially a GT in the so-called "Grabber" colors of "Wimbledon White", "Poppy Red" or "Calypso Coral," partially blacked-out hood with scoop, side...

1968 Rear spring bolt cover plug

I've never seen that on any Mustang I've had. I wonder if one of the plugs meant for somewhere else just happens to fit there. Steve

    1968 Tail Light Covers

Going from memory, when I put the bow in mine, I placed them between two 2x4's spaced apart, lightly sprayed both sides of the covers with water, and put a couple of loose 14" wheels standing upright on top (each a little in from the ends). The 2x4's should be placed so the wheel/cover touches...

    69 Ranchero SPV

I haven't seen that before, but I forwarded it on to the "experts" at the Fairlane group I'm on. I'll let you know what they say. Steve

Happy belated birthday Donna. I was on a river trip and missed it. Hope it was great. Steve

    Cobra intrigue...

I guess I'll get it started. What you saw was an AC Ace. Like most British "sports cars", it had decent horsepower but wasn't anything that would light your hair on fire (no pun intended Renee). Think of something like the early Triumph TR4's and 6's or Austin Healy 100-6's. When the infamous...

What Would You Buy as a Daily Driver?

I agree with the Mustang GT. I bought my '07 Shelby GT with 13K miles last fall for $22K, as a daily driver and it's a blast plus will get 30 mpg if I put it on cruise at 60 (did it once, don't feel the need to do it again). I see regular GT's in the $16K-$18K range all the time. Steve

1968 Reserved spot with my body guy

There used to be a guy in Vancouver running a 71 XR7, 429 and sunroof in the late '70's/early 80's. I wonder if it's the same car. There can't be that many of them. Steve

For Sale Cheap T-code GT/CS on E bay??

I see holes everywhere except where the side scoops mount. For that much work, I'd definately want to see the Marti. Steve
