1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Thanks, Doug. That would seem right since I'm guessing ours are the original scoops also but I just wondered after reading about parts numbers in another thread. Thanks

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Part numbers on the side scoops I read in an old thread that the scoops have part numbers on the inside, facing the car. Is this true and if so can they be seen without taking the scoops off? I don't really see any numbers upon first check. Also checked for a part number inside the hood...

    1968 Sequential tailights

Thanks Scott! This site is so damn valuable. And I appreciate the info about your reproductions and even mores the info on the dynamite stick that we have. I doubt that I'll do go the repro sequential route since I plan on leaving the car pretty much as is. If the left one keeps working...

    1968 Sequential tailights

Pics of sequential lighting Thanks Dalorzo, Posting a few pics of the left and right side as well as the metal tab I was talking about. Dalorzo, am I imagining it or do I see in one of your pics either a broken off or bent over metal tab....or did yours not have this tab. Clearly looks like...

    1968 Sequential tailights

For those of you who are not yet bored with my posts as we continue to learn more about Sara's CS I have another small oddity. In addition to the interesting ram air set-up, the active brake ducts and the argent painted taillight panel, I forgot to mention that the CS has "partial" sequential...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Actually, after further thought, I wonder if these are not CS scoops but rather '68 shelby scoops. Am I correct that the '67 shelby scoops did not have the two screw holes on the leading edge of the scoop? To be CS scoops, the fronts would have to have been cut out. I'll try to look/feel more...

Thanks. These are very helpful. After seeing these I'm more convinced that the scoops on Sara's CS are the standard CS scoops.

mystery scoops Thanks Ron and others for the input. As for the '67 scoop, I've looked at several pics and it looks to me like the '67's did not have the two screw holes on the leading edge of the scoop? I've not been able to find great pics but here is one on a '67 shelby (blue) and also one...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Thanks, Neil. Can you tell me if the standard CS scoops have this conical part of the scoop that holds the scope to the quarter? Trying to figure out if these are Cs scoops. Thanks.

final few pics You can see the stud comes through from the conical portion of the scoop and also holds the scoop on and also seems to act as the window stop.

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

View of the brake duct installation from inside Removed the door panel. You can see the ducting has deteriorated. Ducting is held on with collars on both end secured with Wittek hose clamps. The ducting comes through from the scoop and appears to go through a hole in the window regulator...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Taking a look at the brake ducts from the inside Tore into the interior today to take a look at the brake ducts. Found some interesting stuff. All orignal upholstery turns out to be in excellent shape:

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Took everything apart today and got some pics. They are not perfect because the metal frame and window mechanism still get in the way a bit. Thought I might be able to take the scoop off but the bolt holding it on from the inside is very difficult to get at. As I suspected it is held on from...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Yup I've seen those too. Not the type on the CS. The ones on the car have a small cone-shape towards the center of the inside of the scoop which looks to be adding support to the scoop and also (I'm guessing) has a bolt or screw going into it from the inside to hold the scoop on. Is this...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Do standard GT/CS scoope have a back? As I recall these do not as you can see day-light on the sides of the scoop in one of the pics. Without a back the cut-out would not be a fabricated part of the scoop. I'll try to take a closer look this weekend. Thanks for the guidance on accessing...

1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

You should be able to click on the links and enlarge them. Does it not work for you? As for the duct, there seems to be metal collar on both ends of the duct so it is a very finished appearance on both ends.

Here are a few pics. Do the quarter windows roll down all the way normally? Ours stop as shown in the pics. Maybe this is one way the vents are accommodated? The scoops do not look modified by cutting out but perhaps are. Took one pic inside by removing the quarter window door rubber. Its...

Ok. Will take a few pics of the scoop and see what other good pics I can get of the set-up. Thanks. Steve

Do you know how the shelby ducts differ? I'll see if I can detect any sign of them being cut out.
