1968 Active brake ducts on Sara's CS

Spent some time cleaning in the rear wheel wells today. Got some much better pictures of the brake ducts. This one continues to baffle since these look professionally done and also look like the nos Shelby ducts that I have seen on ebay. Looks like they were installed before undercoating...

1968 Bit of rust under rocker moldings

Thanks, Neil. It's getting there. Its definitely a 20-footer but we continue to be pleased with just how good this old car is. I am new to mustangs and have always been afraid to jump in because of the rust problems. I think we lucked out. There are definitely dents and dings and one spot...

1968 Bit of rust under rocker moldings

Got around to taking the rocker moldings off this weekend and cleaning the dirt and grime from that area. Overall they looked really good. The only spots where there was any rust was under the leading edge of each molding. Left side was a bit worse as shown here but us only surface level...

1968 Red Oxide, blue paint and gas tank originality

Thanks. The blue paint continues to raise questions. I found a bit more up front as I was cleaning again today. When I get the cleaning done, I'll have a better view of where the blue paint is. I don't think this was sprayed to cover up rust. It really does look like overspray. Can't make...

1968 Date code interpretation on quarters

So looking at the stamp again, perhaps it was meant to be 4/17 and the "3" which is not fully struck was the error. You can see that if the three was not there the spacing between characters would be the same as on the other quarter panels 4 17 2D. This is interesting.

1968 Date code interpretation on quarters

April doesn't have 31 days and that is confusing me. If the first "4" wasn't there in the one pic then the dates would be 3/17 and 3/28/ The plant is the same "d". The rear quarters are: 3/17 and 4/2 but the plant codes is "w".

    1968 What does "Ambris" mean?

The paint daubs are actually on the coil springs, not the leaf springs. I only saw them on one spring so far because I have not gotten to cleaning the other one yet. The daubs of paint are on the coil spring on the forward-facing side of it. Steve

1968 Date code interpretation on quarters

Great thanks! So if I understand correctly the front quarters would be" March 28 and April 3? I'm a bit confused since once quarter has five characters and one has four. Thanks

    1968 What does "Ambris" mean?

I'm continuing to do some cleaning on Sara's CS. Noticed on one front quarter panel and on one headlight bucket that there is a greenish paint stamping on the panel that looks like it says "ambris". Does anyone know what this means? Also noticed some yellow and red paint daubs on the rear...

1968 Red Oxide, blue paint and gas tank originality

Thanks, Mike. I'll have to take a closer look and take pics when I get it cleaned up a bit more. I'll attach links to two pics. One shows some of the blue paint. Clearly it is paint in my view and appears to be an overspray. The other pic shows the seatbelt mounting plate area. You can see...

1968 Red Oxide, blue paint and gas tank originality

Started doing some cleaning on the underside of of the CS yesterday. I am actually surprised how clean the car is! Almost seems TOO clean for a 45 year old car. Makes me think the 44k miles could be actual. Would be great if some of you experts could see and give me your opinion since I know...
