    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

Rob - I am a bit worried about the rubbing... I used this size because a buddy with a 390 GT has them and it looked about right - they were on 15" rims though - so we will see. I hope you are wrong (the only time I will say that)!!! If you ever come out to Utah - that would be a welcomed visit!

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

I looked and looked for photos for the correct finish on this! Dang! Good to know for the next one.

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

Danny - Thanks! I keep forgetting to order the dang sealant each time I place the order with NPD! UGH!!! I wish I had known the master cylindar was black, I have already treated with a rust proof waxy kind of stuff and so getting it clean is not going to happen now, so I will just have to...

    1968 Repaint under way...

Looking good! You will probably beat me done. In your last photo, I think that's the lead seam from the qtr C pillar joint that is separating.

    1968 GT/CS Gas Cap

yep - NPD...9030-7B and emblem 9A031-5. The real kicker here is that there is a paper inside the box stating that these are for non-driven show cars only and not to be used with cars containing fuel and driven! WHAT!!! Unfortunately, if you want a new cap, you have no other choice. When I...

1968 One Less On the Road, RIP - 8R01C147881

It was a miracle that you are ok!!! I would think you still have a lot of value in the car just in parts...it might not be worth the hassle to part it out though. You could probably get all the body work done for about $15K or so, but it is up to you...it is a shame.

    1968 GT/CS Gas Cap

I bought one of those silly things...had to drill holes in the lid to match the logo and buy new push nuts as the ones that come with the logo are too large and WILL NOT hold the logo (I refuse to use silicon). Seriously frustrating for the cost...

    1968 Repaint question... opinions....

My J-code that I am currently restoring never had the scoops or LH end cap removed as far as I can tell and there was no silicon present - on the car or scoops or end cap - when I removed them prior to having it sandblasted and rear qtrs replaced. I guess the LH end cap could have been removed...

1968 Should I buy? Help request

Jeff - welcome to the site! I am glad you made the decision to buy it. It will be something to hold on to over the years and getting one like that in it's original state is beyond anything I could imagine (not many Mustangs or Mustangers in UT compared to out of state). I am excited for you...

    1968 adding a vinyl roof

I am with Neil - I like the look of the vinyl tops and also agree that there are concerns by many about vinyl tops and rust.

    1968 J-Code GT/CS Restoration Thread

OK guys, a few weeks have passed since the last photos, so here are some new ones showing progress...It has been slow go the last couple weeks with football starting and "speed bumps" AKA research has been going on. Let me know your thoughts. Bryce

1968 Need help with adjusting carburetor

Jester - yes you can start the motor with the air filter and housing removed. It is almost impossible to make idle adjustments with the cleaner in place. I would recommend reading Dalorzo_F's posts to understand the carb and how it works. The Autolite 2100 is a really good carb and should run...

    Fog light switch bolts?

From what I see in my assembly manual, there was one bolt and what looks like a tab that kept it from rotating. It will be interesting to hear from the gurus as a lot of things varied from the manual.

    1968 Turn Signal Switch - 12 wires?

Where does a guy buy Shee-mar? I searched and only found eBay and most of the listings for the SM46F come up with tilt wheel, not standard.

    1968 Turn Signal Switch - 12 wires?

Thanks for the help again! NOS might be spendy, but by the time I reimburse everyone here for their expertise and my time searching for answers, I know why some just buy NOS...not that I have the pocket book for it, so I have to do it the po-boy way and rely on the generosity of others. Many...

    1968 Turn Signal Switch - 12 wires?

UHG!!! OK - now I am in another situation. I bought a SD replacement turn signal switch. It has 12 wires - not 10. There is a brown and Yellow/brown wire in addition to the original 10. What do I do with these? The SD part number is c8sz-13341-a. The original switch I have (with a broken...

1968 Power Steering Pump Teal color Paint Source

Rick - thanks for checking back. The spot in question is the small "patch" in the light blue paint located in the "crotch" of the weather strip jam. The dark blue is guardsman blue on the exterior and the light blue is the interior AP-5748. The is original "survivor" paint was under some...
