Seeing your beautiful 68 black GTCS got me thinking that I have not see more than one or two black GTCS's. Was your car originally black? I wonder how many GTCS's were originally painted black? Marty

1968 time for your input gentlemen......

Here is another option. My dad had this 289 with a C8 casting number overhauled last year for a project that we did not end up using it for. It has been broken in on a engine stand and is ready to install. It was bored to 30 over. We could offer it to you for 3K US deliver to Calgary. Before...

1968 time for your input gentlemen......

I agree with above get some other estimates. Most of the resealing could be done in the car. I can get a complete engine rebuild here for 2500.00 US. and I would install it. Marty

Oh Rob my lips are sealed. Although I think Val's ergs are quite satisfied by that black beast in the garage. BTW great job on the cabin. I have done one like that and know how much time it takes. Car repair and construction too, man when do you sleep? Right after the beer?

Joe it looks fast just sitting there and I know if it is yours it is bad! Yes I believe that you can feel danger in your car too but the big difference is I feel it in my 68 at 90 and you feel it at 130 or more in your car. Keep up the good work of eating those Chevys. Marty

I have to say you look pretty good sitting in it. We brought home a 2013 MCA special edition with 7K on it last month to be Tari's daily driver. I can agree with your assessment of the newer models. They just do not make me feel 16 like the older ones do. Some times it is exciting to feel a...

It looks like another fun father son day with two black beauty's. But if I got to pick one it would be the 68. That nose to nose shot shows how big the newer cars have become. Thanks for sharing. Marty

    1968 Side scoops

While we are disusing the side scoops I would like to add that if you are replacing rear quarter panels unless they are NOS the scoop profile will not be correct and the GTCS scoop will not fit. We had to replace the LH side of our HCS project and ended up cutting out the original scoop area and...

    1968 Side scoops

Thanks Scott, That is good to finally know for sure. I would like to know on your unrestored HCS are the Marshal fog light brackets and grill rivets all painted the dark argent? Marty

    1968 Side scoops

Neil I thought of that too, but as I said Shelby also sealed the rear quarter extensions too. The standard quarter extension used a rubber seal that was not used on the fiberglass parts, thus the reasoning for the silicone seal.

    1968 Side scoops

I would not be surprised that the sealant was not used on the GTCS because Ford was not that quality driven at that time. Another example would be that on the Shelby's there was a adjustable hood style bumper on the rear trunk lip, Ford just put a piece of tape weather strip on the deck lid to...

    1968 Side scoops

I can not say 100 present that Ford did it on the GTCS and HCS cars but it was part of the Shelby assembly. It was also used on the rear quarter extensions as well. In fact when judging Shelby's we deduct if it is not present. Even if our cars did not come with it I would still use it just to...
