    Introduction

Welcome to the site. We have quite a few folks here from the great PNW so you should feel right at home. By the way, there is no doubt that Highland Green is the best color for a GT/CS!!!

    For Sale 1968 GT/CS Big Block X-code on E-bay

Ok, this really bugs me. Take a look at the paint line at the VIN cutout on the fender, and it looks like there may be paint on the opposite side hood bumper.

    I'm Tempted

I wonder if a 289 will fit under the hood. http://www.cars-on-line.com/48940.html

1968 Carb swap from Holley back to correct 2100

Here is a little toy that is fun to play with and is also quite enlightening. According to it most of our 289s are probably over-carbed. http://www.4secondsflat.com/Carb_CFM_Calculator.html

Early vs. Late Lucas Square 8 Foglights

The lights on the left side of each photo are the early (not sure when they switched) lights with the small black O-ring grommets. The lights on the right are the later models with the large gray cone-shaped grommets. But the grommets are not the whole story. The wiring inside the lights is...

    1968 Trouble starting new engine

Intake gaskets should be installed in conjuction with sealant. A thin layer of RTV over both faces and huge beads front and rear should seal it all up.

1968 Gas Gauge problems and a few questions

The 289 has 2 basic problems which are low compression and poor exhaling. Higher compression pistons, porting the heads, and better exhaust manifolds will help considerably.

Cool, I had no idea the reflectors were so complex.

That probably is what they are trying to say by stating it's the last one.

Does anyone know why the reflector recesses are oval-shaped? Did very early '68s have such oval recesses?

Ronald McDonald House '68 GT/CS Raffle

The website says that the appraised value is $70,455, and it may be the last California Special built. These folks are really pushing it, or full of it.

    68 gt/cs

Another odd thing about this car is that the Marti report shows it with a 2.79 rear but the door tag shows a 3.50. So according to the Marti the car was supposed to have a 3-speed transmission and 2.79 gears but it went out the door with a 4-speed and 3.50 gears. And I'm not 100% sure that...

    68 gt/cs

Hmmmm, maybe we could talk Bill into keeping the car long enough to borrow it for a June road trip to Denver. Bill, Bill, Amy, Rob, Bret, & Steve could get a real convoy going the PNW. Or, if the Mustang is sold, he could drive the GTX as a chase vehicle (check out his gallery)...

    68 gt/cs

According to the data plate on the door this is a factory 4-speed car. Not sure why the Marti says it has a 3-speed. As well as having early rear reflectors it also has the extremely early tail light panel. See #7 http://californiaspecial.com/forums/showpost.php?p=62595&postcount=1

1968 Anyone use these Hedman Hedders shortys in their SB car?

They seem a little long. How close will they be to the motor mounts?

Ronald McDonald House '68 GT/CS Raffle

It was in last week's issue of AutoWeek. The car needs a few little things fixed (stripes, scoop screens, pedestals) but it certainly looks like some raffle tickets are in my future.
