    1968 E-10 Ethanol

It seems to me that it would be a problem only if the car sits for a long time and water accumulates in the tank. If you use up the gas in a timely manner it should be fine, which should be easy enough in an S-code!!!

    1968 This Can't be Good!

Excellent point. I hadn't thought of that possibility! Tailpipe rubbing a hole in the fuel line......that would be a good definition for "having a bad day"!!!!

    1968 This Can't be Good!

It looks like I've been driving for the last 4 years with the tailpipe against the fuel line!!! I guess the pipe doesn't get hot enough to do any real damage but my exhaust system is too loud anyway (stop laughing, Rob and Steve!) so now might be a real good time to get a new one. It also...

    1968 Instrument Voltage Regulator

Thanks for the offer, Neil, but trial and error worked. Turning the screw clockwise increases the readings on the gauges.

    1968 Instrument Voltage Regulator

I've read that due to how the regulators work digital meters are too fast and the reading bounces all over. Only an old analog meter will work, which I don't have. I'll probably go to plan B, which is to turn the screw one way or the other, hook the cluster back in, and see what happens, repeat.

    1968 Instrument Voltage Regulator

After installing a new regulator for the gauges they now all read too low so I need to adjust the little screw on the rear of the regulator but I don't know which way to turn it. Does anyone know which way to turn the screw to increase the voltage to the gauges?

    1968 E-10 Ethanol

Here is a paragraph from an Australian site. Carburettor Equipped Engines Vehicles made before 1986 vehicles were predominantly equipped with carburettors and steel fuel tanks. The use of ethanol blended petrol in engines impacts the air/fuel ratio because of the additional oxygen molecules...

If the car heats up only when it idles but it has good water flow and air flow is it possible the vacuum lines to the distributor are hooked up incorrectly or the vacuum christmas tree isn't working properly? Just thinking out loud here: The rear distributor hose should have full vacuum when...

Here's a little blurb from a hot rod site. DOING THE NUMBERS The "hot rod advance curve" used mostly on a 9:1 engine with a mild camshaft (duration less than 220 degrees at 0.050-inch of valve lift) is 10 to 12 degrees initial timing plus 22 to 24 degrees of additional advance from the...

With. 18 is really pushing the envelope but 12 should be no problem, but you may need to run premium fuel to prevent detonation (pinging). I'm running at 22 degrees with no problems. Of course, that's with an aggressive cam.
