Start with the basics: Most all modern cams use the 351W firing order, not the vintage 289/302 firing order.

Tom, it would be helpful if you could determine the 1968 Ford part number of your desired carburetor. There would be three possibilities: 289-2V with automatic C8ZF-G sometimes stamped 8Z G, 289-2V with manual transmission C8AF-AK, 390-2V only with automatic C8WF-A. These are all shorthand...

I agree Arlie, my early built GT/CS, Marti Report shows an 'actual build date' of 02/06/1968, predating both of those VIN's stamped on Joeys car. Which supports what you are saying about cars converted after the fact, to fill the expected dealer orders from the introduction. FMC or Ford Motor...

For our vintage Ford's, you shouldn't use the 'distributor side of the coil wire' for your 12v source. Source a 'switched' 12 volt wire. Makes a huge difference.

Cut the oval into the package tray material, I used 1/8 inch paneling. Then I put screen door screen over the top surface, then covered the whole thing with the fabric. Almost undetectable.

Typically the 2100 carburetor for a 289 would have a 1.08" venturis. Marked 1.08 on the side of the carburetor body. At least for 1968.

I wonder if this one has ever been shown at MCA? Looks really good to me, pending a physical inspection. Probably one of the cheapest stickered GT/CS's in 1968.
