the car has almost all new sheetmetal. The prvious owner said the car was rusty and he replaced all the metal with Frod NOS stuff in 1992/3. I have receipts of all this stuff. No undercoating is on the car at all. I used simple green and water with a towel. There really was barely any dirt in there when I started. The previous owner restored the car and let it sit in his garage for the last 10 years.

I do have a little road noise/wheel bearing noise from the rear so I will be replacing the rear wheel bearings soon to see if the road noise goes away. If it does not go away then I might undercoat the fenders/quarters.

Front Fender top side may be blacked out with sound deadener or show signs of primer and body color overspray. Splash guards black with some sound deadener. Inner fenders wheel side could show blending of body color, primer or engine compartment color with deadener overspray. Lower Pinch Welds body color ; From front wheel well(behind fender) to rear valance, semi gloss black or body color if exterior dark color.

JB - The car looks to be in great shape. I always thought a 68 Cal Spec was suppose to have rust holes in the frame and wheel wells. Oh wait, that was my car!! ;D

Nice to see someone doesnt have to deal with that.

Very nice cleaning job!!!

Regarding the paint in the fender wells, the Ford Assembly Manual states that the entire front fender well is painted semi-gloss black with areas of undercoating to the front and rear of the shock tower. The shock tower is not undercoated, but is painted black. The splash apron that is screwed to the body and keeps debris out of the door jam is painted gloss black with no undercoating. The front fender apron that is screwed to the front fender is also painted gloss black.

The rear fender well is totally undercoated and the frame rail is usually painted the car color where you can see in the fender opening. The rest of the rear frame rail is painted red primer. The pinch welds are painted black on light colored cars, but not necessarily on dark colored cars.
Hope this helps,
Russ
