    1968 Dealer Spec Sheet

Over the weekend I was in Green Bay, WI and stopped in to Shelby Parts & Restoration to see if they had any parts for my GT/CS. Great guys! Spent a couple hours talking to them and got to see some really great Shelby's they are restoring. The owner Jim scanned and emailed this Dealer Spec...

1968 SEM Paint on Metal Dash?

I reached out to NPD about this and this was the response I got: "Over properly prepared and primed metal the SEM mix paint works excellent on metal. I talked with our supplier in regards to this years ago who informed me of the possibility. I have used it and I have several friends who have...

1968 SEM Paint on Metal Dash?

I checked the can. I used a VP. Crap. Well, it looks great for now! When I have the car repainted in a year or so I'll tell them to redo it! It looks better than it did though. I'll have to get in touch with NPD since they say it's good for metal too on their website. It's not as though...

1968 SEM Paint on Metal Dash?

OK, so I think I may possibly be having a Homer Simpson "DOH!" moment. I spent the better part of the past couple weeks sanding down my dash and painting it. It turned out great but I think the paint is a little soft. The glovebox door got messed up and I am repainting it. When sanding the...

1968 So this guy stopped and offered to buy

Bingo! Personally I dreamed of owning one since I was a little kid and saw one in a book. It stuck with me. The car I'm building is not for the purpose of resale but to make it what I want. Not worried about it's value when all is said and done! Only if I go bankrupt will I be worried!

1968 So this guy stopped and offered to buy

I think more than that if it's rust free and in decent shape. I paid a little more than that for mine and it needed/needs some body work and was not 100% drivable. Lots of leaks and smoking! If your car is a driver I'd say at minimum $9K.

    1968 Dash Removal?

Ah, did not know the metal dash was welded in. I though it could be removed. I guess I will change this post to I won't be removing my dash tonight! Looks like I will need to find a way to repaint it in the car!

    1968 Dash Removal?

I'm going to start working on removing my dash tomorrow night so I can have it soda blasted and repainted. Any tips or tricks from those who have done it? I removed a dash in my 81 Mustang years ago and that was a nightmare! Hoping this is not that bad! :icon_pani

    1968 AOD Tranny Swap

Once again my height (6'8") seems to be getting in my way of having a stick in a car. I originally intended to put a Tremec in my GTCS but it looks like I'll need to keep the car an Automatic if I want to still drive it. The C4 is on it's last leg in the car. So I want to do the AOD swap when...

    1968 302 Header Suggestions

My car has the ram lowering bracket on it and long tubes. The long tubes are Hedman. Not sure if they are good or not but they appear to have been the victim of a bottom out somwhere and were welded back together. Also very rusty. So in my book they must be very durable to last through all that!

1968 Baby's got some new shoes!

I can't wait for body and paint work! That's the very last thing I am doing to the car. Just started redoing the interior this week. Recovering the seats, new carpet, getting the metal panels repainted. I need to pull the dask to get that painted as well.

1968 Baby's got some new shoes!

Wheels are Rocket Racing Booster wheels in a Hyper Shot finish. Size is 17x8 with 4.5" back spacing all the way around. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sports. I haven't driven it yet outside of my drive way. Have to fix the kickdown on the transmission first. It fell apart when I did my...

For Sale 1968 GT/CS project in MI

I reached out to this guy to see if it was the same car for sale last winter. It is, he's been trying to sell the car for a long time. The car has a straight 6 and some rust on the body if I recall correctly. I think it was a 3-speed manual too. The car appeared to be all there when he had...

1968 Baby's got some new shoes!

Just installed my new wheels and tires. Went with Rocket Racing Hyper Shot booster wheels. Now I can actually drive my car somewhere! Old tires had cracked side walls! Too bad most of the car shows are over for the year and I ripped out 70% of my interior to start redoing it. :icon_bore

    1968 White hood stripes?

I say do it as Danny described. That is all I have seen on a GT/CS. I read somewhere that it was an option. When I get my car repainted at the end of restoration I was thinking of doing the hood stripes as well. My car is supposed to be Presidential Blue which I think would look great with...

    1968 Rack and Pinion Steering

Did you look at the Borgeson Box conversion? I just did it in my GTCS and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! No cutting to done. It all connects into the existing Gearbox location. You get rid of the Slave and Control valve. It also does not leak. The rac increases your turning radius from everything I...

    1968 C4 Kickdown

Recently my kickdown cable on my C4 came apart where it connects to the throttle. It looks like it was not properly connected. I ordered the parts to fix it. Can anyone tell me how to adjust the cable for proper kickdown?
