    1968 Looking for snorkel 390 S-code

ALL of the 68-69 S code and 68-70 CJ bases, shields, lid and snorkels have been sorted for some time now. Don't kill the messenger these forums are about helping with correct information and my post is no reflection against the job you do to contribute to that very cause. Peace

    1968 Looking for snorkel 390 S-code

Richard speaking snorkels only here then. 68 vs 69 S codes. They are not the same at all. They are completely different intermediate bends and length as well as hole spacing for base screws not to mention your recognized reducer sleeve on the 69. The 69 390 IP is identical to the Cobra Jet...

    1968 Looking for snorkel 390 S-code

I am only speakng of the 1969 S code 390IP base and lid. It is the same base and lid as the 69 Boss 302 and 69 Q code non Ram Air 428. There is a small difference on the underside of the lid on early 390 there was a ring with depth of about 2 inches and an OD of about 4 inches. The snorkel on...

    1968 Looking for snorkel 390 S-code

The 69 is the same as a 69/70 428 CJ with exception of the reducer ring which is the same as a Boss 302. The base and lid are also the same as a 69 non ram 428 CJ. The 68 snorkel is completely different one year offering. It is closer in appearance to a full size 390/428 4V

    1968 Interior Paint

Like Dalorzo said a light dust almost dry will get the metallic. I find a base in Semi Gloss Black first will be helpful for adhesion as the Charcoal is thin and you want the metallic to flow evenly. Scratches and touch ups are easier with a Black base an less likely to stand out.

    1968 24 inch radiator

west modine was the original supplier in 68 for SJ built cars. Obviously the new one would not have the FoMoCo on the top tank but it was under the the top bracket on a 24 anyway. For an automatic that would be my choice. Unfortunately no one makes a 4 speed specific bottom tank any longer.

    1968 289 or 302 block

look again C8AE-A is a 427 Hydraulic as used in the GTE. Ford never shared castings between engine block families. You have either a C6AE-6015-C (early built 68 model 289) C8AE-B or C8OE-A. Likely the B if it is a C code.

    1968 289 or 302 block

Most of the 289 "loaded" 302 blocks are C8AE 6015 B as opposed to the C80E 6015 A. Let us know which you have. I have yet see a true J code with the B block. Starting to think possibly that all of the B blocks are 289 loaded 302's. Not saying all B blocks are 289 just saying that was the casting...

1968 GT VS A Non GT California special.

Hi Terry, unfortunately it was not a called out promotion but rather a huge error by the purchasing agent at the dealership. There was a guy following and documenting these cars up in Washington state but unfortunately he passed away before uploading his findings to the internet. I beleive he...

1968 GT VS A Non GT California special.

There is always over lap on dates when a change is put in place. My point was we do not seem to see anymore knee pads after that approx date. Yes the radial tires are super rare on these early cars. 1967 was the first year they were offered on a Mustang. I had a K code 67 Convertible that called...
