I hope someone can help?I found a 1967 Fastback GT,S code car.The funny thing it is also a California special.It appears to have all the right equipment to be a special. I cannot find anywhere that says if any where built in 67.I know nothing about these cars other than What I can find on the web.Any help would be appreciated.

Ford Mustang California Special GT/CS`s were only produced in 1968 and were only coupes. Check out the identification link in the left column of this page. It will be more specific.

A 67 S-code GT Fastback Mustang is a very desirable car in its own right.

Rhonda pretty much answered your question. 1968 year only and only coupes. But, on the other hand if the car has all the GT/CS pieces (i.e., shelby rear decklid, side scoops, and fog lights) sounds like someone has done a lot of customizing to this particular car. Not a bad buy if this vehicle is in good shape considering it is an "S" code mustang and still retains it's 390 engine. Another possibility: might this car be a shelby? From what I've heard, there were a few in 67 that were produced with a 390 power plant.

Have any pictures you can post????

With the factory build code being a "T" (New Jersey) it's definitely not a CS, second digit would have to be an "R" (San Jose) for build code. Will be interesting to see pictures. Don't think it's a Shelby with the info you've posted. Almost sounds like a restomod set-up that someone has done or an Elenor clone to a standard 67 fastback 390. Still sounds like a pretty nice car depending on condition. I'm always interested when someone finds another big block car. You just don't see that many of them out on the roads these days.

1967 Shelbys did not use an S in the vin for 428s, would have been a Q. Car cannot be a Shelby.

Rhonda;
Good catch on that one. I forgot about those cars. I know there weren't very many of them built. I've actually never seen one. Of course they are as elusive as the 1970 Twister's.

No fiberglass trunks or scoops were used on those

Likely just some ones modified Mustang fastback

Yep, just wishful thinking on my part. Sure do wish I could find one of those Stallions though. Talk about rare.

...I can't remember if it was here or pictures I saw somewhere else, but someone had a black fastback w/ Shelby rearend, side scoop, (no roof scoop) no stripe, but did have the CS script... Ring any bells with anyone?

In my opinion, it would be crazy for someone to make a fastback with Cal Spec stuff. For that amount of work, why not make a Shelby clone?
