Hi everyone,

Due to work, I am moving out of state and sadly need to sell my beloved 1968 Mustang GT/CS. It's originally a C-code car, that's equivalent to a J-code now. It's all numbers matching (yes, I still have the original manifold). Everything mechanical has been completely restored, from the engine being rebuilt, transmission, exhaust, new tires (including spare), suspension, brakes, A/C, power steering, etc. etc. etc.

It still has original paint and most original parts beyond the mechanical stuff. This was the show room floor model at Holiday Ford in Sunnyvale CA (now Sunnyvale Ford). It's Highland Green with a parchment interior and originally had a parchment vinyl top...which is now black. This car was fully loaded...look at the window tag (from Marti) below.

What's left to do? Well depending on what you like it could be very little (headliner)...or you can get it fully painted and have the roof redone if you care about the color.

It comes with a bunch of original parts (I upgraded the fog lights to Marchals, but still have the original lights and posts if you are a purist). I have a new striping kit ready if you paint it as well. Much, much, more is involved. I also have a deluxe Marti report that will come with the car.

While these pics show it with the white CA plate, it actually has the original plate on the car (black/yellow) and it is currently running and registered until Dec 2018.

NOTE: The steering wheel was fully restored, this picture doesn't reflect that...

Convenience Group: A RARE, RARE option. Does it all still work?
This is a Highly Optioned C code. A beauty.
Looks like it could use a repaint.

Arlie: SELL the six banger, get a highly optioned GT/CS. (Its even the right color for you.)

Not all of the options work in the Convenience Group. Two of them do, the door and the brake light I think...but the Gas and Seat Belt. However the gas one doesn't work due to the previous owner not realizing that there was a module in the old tank when he replaced it. The good news is that you can find those modules NOS pretty easily (not cheap, but they are out there)...installing it is a whole other story though...

In addition to being highly optioned, this car has quite a few "anomalies" with it. I think it may have been slated to have the full Deluxe Interior , but didn't quite make it all the way. For instance, it has metal grilles on the lower doors, but no courtesy lights. It's the two tone interior. Has deluxe belts, steering wheel, clock, etc. but it has the standard black panels on the dash, etc. Another odd thing is that it never had a dome light until I installed one essentially out of necessity. :)

If it were to have had the interior décor option it would have been listed on your window sticker. I see the deluxe wheel, clock and deluxe belts on your options list. It is likely someone added the door grills. Were there speaker holes behind them? If so I would say someone wanted a AM FM or 8 track player, possibly dealer installed.
I have a 68 HCS that is missing the dome light as well. Not even wire ran for it.
Nice car! a great opportunity for someone named Arlie.

Whoever buys it, make sure they promise not to repaint it!

Maybe it would be ok to put the right color top back on though :)

I’m not too sure about that. A nice new shiny white top may clash with the rest of the patina.

The original paint is shot: hood, fenders, cowl, rear- forward of trunklid.
I wouldn't hesitate repainting it in its original color. But that's just me.
I'd also put the original color vinyl on the roof. Been there, done that.

I agree completely. To me the black top looks out of place with the white stripe and interior. Plus, if you look at the Marti, the white top is even more desirable with it's low number.

I am with the repaint guys. Unless the entire car has been kept in unrestored condition I would bring it back to it's original glory. My 68 52K mile original paint unrestored HCS
has just about all of the patina that I can stand.

Hey guys, it sold. :) I am very happy with who it went with. I agree with all of you about going with painting it and returning the vinyl top back to parchment (note it's not really "white" so it's not as bright and man it will look so friggin nice). Essentially it's all that "has" to be done. But man this car has great bones and I truly adored it while I had it...but it will see much more love and action with where it is now, that I wouldn't be able to give it. I am sure the new owner will be posting about it before long. :)

We want to thank Ken & Cheryl for the opportunity to purchase this very special car. (I'm so excited to have it ) The history and all the hard work & love that Ken & Cheryl put into this car to make it so great. We are honored to have it!!! I drove home 60-70mph on the freeway, and it drives/rides so nice!! Super happy. We will continue with Ken's diligence to bring this car to its former glory! I know everyone is out there voting, but John says its getting a repaint!.

I can't wait to go through all the paper work & files. Even has the original warranty card

Oh and the last 2 of the VIN are 89 (John's Fire badge number, my back number when I was showing my horse) And the original owner's name was John also)

Congratulations and thank you, I was racking my brain trying to figure out how I could come up with the funds to buy Arlie’s six banger.
