Yes the Z-28 also had a 302. 290 horsepower if I remember correctly.

The 302 in the Z/28 was rated at 290 hp in '67, '68 and '69. Grossly underrated in terms of horsepower, as was the Boss 302 of the era. Both were spectacular powerplants for the day, IMHO.

The reason for 302 sized engines in 1968 was because of Trans Am racing. There was a 5 liter maximum sized engine for competition. 283's and 289's needed to be 'upsized'.

In the case of the Chevy 302, I think (IIRC) that it was a 327 that was "downsized" by using the 283 crank.

The Z28 "zapper" 302 as it was fondly referred came along in 67
The 302 Tunnelport was a 68 Ford exotic for Trans Am
The of course the Boss 302 in 69/70.

Interesting factoid is the 302 2V and 4V were available in the 68 Cougar as an F code and J code. No Mustang received a 302 2V. Ok I am going back to work lol

This car was for sale by the same seller last July. Her brother in law purchased it new in Redding. I was interested in it because I thought it might have been an original bronze car. No such luck. Originally highland green over black (I'd bet the dirty trunk is green when cleaned). It has rust in the bottom of both qtrs, car had been tapped in the rear and both qtr caps are cracked. The car had been parked for 10 years, but she had just got it running last July. The car showed less than 54k miles. Unsure if that is correct.

At the time the woman was firm at $25k. I gave her an estimated value of $15k. She was having none of that and so it wasn't worth my time to go up there and check it out.
