I don't know about the $200k price tag, but it is a really nice looking car with everything one would be looking for in a Cougar. I am guessing the exhaust has been changed out, or is that how the rear pipes were? What is the silver box on the driver side firewall? I would be proud to drive that car to shows, but for a much lower price my CS would draw the same size crowd. Casey

Isn't this where one of us is suppose to say "Hey, what is he doing with GT/CS taillights in that car" like so many of us hear from those folks thinking we have cougar tail lights in our cars.

I like the car, but not that much!!

Does anyone know if T-Birds and/or Cougars were outfitted with more robust headlight switches than Mustangs?

The leather seats (even the passenger one) look like they have a lot of creases for a car with 650 miles.

I have always liked the Cougar, had one back in 1978.

The switches have vacuum nipples for actuating the headlamp doors.

We have been discussing this Cougar on our Cougar forum. We have decided that it has 650 miles since the rebuild.
Pretty well optioned car, the 428CJ with ram air option is a great find.

390cs68Rcode - Little 1970 Cougar trivia for you. All 1970 Cougars with the 428CJ or SCJ option are all Q-codes. Ram air was optional.

The highest price that I know of for an XR7 convertible with the 428CJ option is $115,000. That car started out needing floor pans, quarter panels, and most sheetmetal replaced (east coast car). Concours restoration, with smog and date coded correct engine. Non-numbers matching car. Nice example.

I doubt that it makes the reserve. Making this Cougar up as an Eliminator clone hurts the marketable value. This is not a great restoration in my opinion.

Paul;
Myself I like the way our tail lights are setup better (Not so cluttered). Nice car but, it's just a little too busy for me both on the outside and inside.

I'll stick with my CS.

I agree with you Don. Those who think we have the Cougar tail lights in our cars don't know much about our cars or the Cougar, in my opinion. I like the cleaner look. No trade for me either.

that is what I was gonna say "q" code looks like r code? Good info on the cougar q code

Valve covers are not correct? These are scj?
also not the right intake looks like PI intake
I wonder just how correct the date codes are on this car.

Way over priced.
On the 428 cj forum there was a theard about the original exhuast on cj cars being worth up wards of $10k

Don, I agree 100%, even though earlier in the thread I did say I wouldnt mind taking this Cougar to shows, it is a bit flashy.

The other day my daughter asks my why I have to drive her around in the CS, and I told her cause I love the way people come over to look at it and ask me questions. She told me, "Then why don't you just get a shirt that says 'Look at me' on it?!?". I guess she doesnt yet have the appreciation for the attention our CS's get.:icon_no:, and they are not nearly as flashy as this Cougar which screams 'Look at me' .
