Back on the license plate thing.
I've been wondering everyone's viewpoint on this and was going to start a thread awhile back.

Do you prefer not to post pics that show your plates?

I've been thinking about reposting mine for awhile without the plates.
I like that they are vintage plates though and look cool.
I guess I could get pic of an another old plate and superimpose it or the GT/CS plate that is on eBAY every week.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts and if anyone has ever heard of something happening because of this.

I don't mind my plates being on the net. If a stranger comes around they will have to dodge .45 lead.

My thoughts exactly. Spoken like a true Texan, and. . . . . . . . Don't Mess with Missouri either!

In Idaho no information is given out to the general public from DMV, so there is, in theory, no way for someone to get your name, address, etc. from the plate number. It's probably the same everywhere. As for the "Texas Security System", I remember a quote in the local paper from a Deputy Sheriff who said something like "I don't want to be the one to go door to door in North Idaho trying to take people's guns from them".

Maybe the thing behind the grill is the horn? On that lady's car....

thought about that. would be a strange place to drill a hole for a horn.

maybe we can get a better pic?

15 years ago in South Dakota a huge RV went around our car on a gravel road, through up a rock and broke our windshield. We got their license plate number as they went by and called the sheriffs office when we got home. They gave us the name and address of the owners and we contacted them. Their insurance paid for the broken windshield. I don`t know what it`s like from state to state, but back then South Dakota allowed that I know. Scary huh?

My brothers are all cops and they wouldn't even do it for me...it's against the law to do it, but unscrupulous persons would do it. They just better not get caught.

I should have qualified my statement. I didn't mean to insinuate that all would do it ... but I've heard that some unscrupulous types would.

Didn't mean to offend anyone in law enforcement.
My apologies.

Hey David,

I didn't mean to create regrets about taking those pictures. Your comparison is great! And your questions and comments are great, too! I hope that your original intent wasn't lost. Your enthusiasm is fantastic (as well as your drag racing!)!!!

So--don't feel like you did something "wrong". You didn't. It's just that I wanted to point out how "insane" some stuff on the internet is. From where I sit--I have to be real vigilant to protect the registry. I never print locations of owners. I get offers for (generic) car parts to members, and stuff all the time, and just ignore it. Companies out there want me to share my list. It's never happened.

I'm sorry if I set this on the wrong track. It's not that it's a bad thing printing pics (wit lic. plates, etc.), it's just that we have to be careful; and I was just saying my piece about it.

Keep up the great work, David!!
