I know Bob Teets posted the production information on the breakdown on the 68 HCS, but can't find it so just wanted to post the question again...

I came across a 68 HCS with a factory 6 cyl.

How many were produced with the 6 cyl. I know it is more uncommon than rare since the 6 cyl are not highly desirable. Just currious on how many were built with the 6's?

Thanks, Scott (Nebraska)

Per Kevin Marti stats in the Newitt book; 26 3 speeds, 10 C4's... keep it a 6 if you buy it!

Hello, I am in North Platte but the is in storage in Mullen area. I am a former owner of a 66 HCS in driver condition and a 68 HCS project.

I know of 4 68 HCS, 2 of which Bob has in his registry and 1 more 66 HCS coupe. Before I go after one of the I have a 67 390 fastback I have to finish up and get sold. I will keep info posted on these cars.

Does anyone know how many 68 HCS Bob has in the registry?

Thanks, Scott

Yes if I were to get this 6 cyl. 68 HCS it would be left bone stock. I was just making the comment that the 6's shouldn't be called rare but should be considered uncommon.

I forgot about another rumor of a BLACK 68 HCS with a 390 a couple hours south of me but have not seen that one personally.

A restored 67 HCS coupe should be at a car show I am planning on attending this weekend and not sure if it is in the registry yet. I will get the numbers and info for Bob to add to the registry.

Thanks, Scott

Scott, stay on the trail for those HCS in your area for the vins and door tag info. I'm up to well over half of the 251 for the '68 cars but '66 and '67 HCS count is below the half way mark.

Thank you (AND ALL THE OTHER GUYS AND GALS) for being so alert to NEW FINDS THAT ARE OUT THERE. Sometimes, NOT ALWAYS, I have the vin stuff but not always the currant owners ID etc. so don't hesitate to call me or post stuff and I'll follow up on them, for sure right away. Thanks, Bob here. PS, Since April 2011, I've picked up 80 some #'s of Cals and hcs, many with Marti reports. When I get 100, I'll send them to Mike Jewell as MANY have not been in any of Paul's books.

I'll tell you, those 6 bangers are not common in the registry, thats for sure. I would say that any engine change to a V8, in my mind, would be UNCHRISTIANLIKE.
